About Xingmei
Xingmei is from the village of Huixing Shan [Comet Mountain] in rural Quain. She is the only child of Wang Peng and Li Ting, retired martial art instructors from the local temple. Although disappointed that they never had a son, they poured their love, discipline, earnestness, and resources into ensuring the training of Xingmei in martial arts.
Xingmei is not a tomboy. In the village, she was normally demure and feminine. Only in on the wrestling mat did she become aggressive and bold.
She qualified for entry into the prestigious Dragon Temple, but only lasted a year there. Annoyed by the constant petty quarrels and politics, she immersed herself in training to the point of burnout.
The prestige of the Temple tarnished in her eyes, she worked her connections (including her parents) to get out into the world, away from 'academia' as she calls it now, to apply and hone her skills in situations where she can make a difference.
This led to caravan guarding at first, then to Osirion where she guarded archaeological digs ... not really what she had in mind. Both the Pathfinders and Aspis had dealings and confrontations concerning the dig. She disagreed with the Aspis' notion of the ends mattering far more than the means, and was impressed by the Pathfinder's behavior and ethos.
She joined a group of Pathfinders who did missions for the Scarab Sages, which took her, too her surprise, out of Osirion on the hunt of stolen jewels across Avistan.
On her journeys, she keeps an ear open for any groups of Tian who practice martial wrestling. Thus, she pursues the path of the Tetori as best she can.
Although born in the Year of the Forest Dragon, Xingmei is not especially shrewd or cautious. In fact, she can be impulsive (which she's trying to control). She does have a vengeful streak, which she moderates by thinking over the matter and deciding to either let it go or assume a personal enemy for life. (One Zhang Yan back at Dragon Temple should hope to never run across her in a dark alley.)
