Profile
--------------------
Appearance Standing a bit over five and a half feet tall and weighing 10 stone, Wraxus physically is built as much would an expect of an elfmarked. His pale, almost bone white, skin is indicative of his shadow fey heritage. His shadowed eyes cut a unique presentation - one eye a vibrant blue, the other is jet black, a haunting condition acquired in his formative years. Like his eye, his hair went bleach white before even reaching the age of maturity, but somehow it only lends him more mystery to leverage. He tends to favor darker toned clothes that are innately functional but have just a little edge to them. Wraxus is rarely without a curved blade on his left hip, though in truth he makes far more use of the utilitarian hammer on his right side.

Personality Wraxus is a darkly charming and sarcastic young man with a dangerous zest for the unknown; all of which tend to get him in trouble. Quick on his feet and gifted with a faster tongue, Wraxus makes a good deal of friends, if perhaps only after recovering an occasional misstep. His brashness likewise caused the schism between he and his mentor, though they remain on good terms. Now he seeks to both understand the curse/power that has affected him, while working to help those who grew up under similar circumstances as himself.

Background Zobeck, the city at the crossroads. With the nobles long displaced, it is now a city of the people and for the people. Yet even in such a place there are those who live with less than others, who fall through the cracks. But even the lowliest can rise... this is the tale of one such soul.

Born the bastard child of a bar wench and an enigmatic shadow fey, Wraxus was given little opportunity to succeed in life. His first few years were spent in the back chambers of the Lonely Siren, a rough-and-tumble tavern in the Docks District. By his first birthday though, Wraxus found himself an orphan after his mother caught a knife in the kidneys during a horrid tavern brawl. Alone on the streets, Wraxus quickly found his way among the urchins and beggars who drift amidst the back alleys of the Free City.

Though smaller of build than most others and painfully young, Wraxus had a wit and charm about himself that kept him on his toes and out of the deepest part of the gutter. He began to assist older urchins with simple cons and scams, before eventually taking them over. In between he also worked as a guide, message runner, and entertainer through the lower districts, learning every street corner, dockside, and alley well. He even spent time venturing through the Cartways, a stretch that proved dangerous, but very useful.

On one such instance, Wraxus crossed paths with a wealthy merchant that found the lad useful and kept him with his company for the several days he was in town. Accompanying the merchant was a dwarven cartographer and wizard by the name of Godrick Redmane. Redmane was both amused by the way the young Wraxus worked his employer, while also being impressed by his skill and knowledge. In Wraxus he saw an intriguing opportunity. Godrick was an accomplished explorer and mapmaker, but could use a slick tongue and a light set of fingers, things which Wraxus had a wealth of. Moreover, he saw the inkling of magical talent in the ruffian's blood, and believed he could coax it out with some training.

So Wraxus went from a streetrunner to a cartographer's apprentice. He took to the mapmaking side well, but it was in the exploring, then recounting of their tales, that Wraxus truly thrived. And in doing so, earned them a good bit of notoriety and wealth. But in this, Wraxus got brazen, and began ignoring Redmane's advice, to his neverending folly.
While digging through a ruined mage's tower, Wraxus found a small box buried within an archaic desk. Rushing to open it, a strange, shadowy energy escaped out, surrounding him. As a raging howl filled his ears, the darkness closed over his eyes. Awaking some time later upon Redmane's discovery, Wraxus was strangely changed. His already pale appearance had gotten more pronounced, his hair had gone snow white, and his right eye had gone completely black. He could still see, but there was a strangeness to the vision. Over the coming weeks he suffered from a strange illness that could not be diagnosed, by neither medic nor cleric. Finally, the voice came to him, whispering in the dark.

Redmane, heartbroken, knew he couldn't trust Wraxus at his side. They parted ways as mentor and apprentice, though remained friends. Wraxus continued taking risks, and found new powers manifesting within himself. They scared him for a time, and he shied away. But as the years passed, he began to make use of it more. Now an adventurer, storyteller, entertainer, and mapmaker (he had achieved his journeyman status in the cartographer's guild before the darkness transpired), Wraxus is known around the Docks as a friend to those in need, solving the problems that more powerful folk have little regard for.
Along the way, he founded a curio shoppe, The Dragon's Hoard. Filled with used goods, trinkets, and random finds, it serves as both a workplace and residence for a cluster of the urchins that Wraxus has
taken under his wing.

Dramatis Personae
Godrick Redmane N Dwf Ftr2/Brd4 Wraxus's mentor, Godrick is "retired" from adventuring, preferring to spend days studying tomes and scrolls, and crafting fine maps for sale. He has little patience for pupils, but took to Wraxus in part because of their amusing first encounter.
