guys, as an aside, my wedding is only a week away now, and while i'll still be reading from my phone, my posting will be prolly almost nonexistent for about two weeks. dm patcher, feel free to do whatever you like with my character while i'm mostly incommunicado.

Will double checks his crossbow and casts another spell to light up a pebble.

"I'm not much of a climber myself, so hopefully we'll find an easier way."

is the door in southern wall open or closed?

"Well, I'm not overly fond of the dark myself. I think from now on I'll make sure I can see what we're walking into."

Will bends over and gathers some pebbles from the rubble strewn about. He then casts light on one of them and gives it a gentle toss towards the shadow shrouded doorway.

Sorry guys, weekends are sometimes problematic for me to get posts in. alerio is actually running a game that i'm also playing in and he hasn't posted anything over there recently either. not sure what's going on in rl for him

Will sighs a bit as he examines his bite wounds. "Didn't expect quite so many intimate wildlife encounters."

He points his finger at his temple and a silver light shoots out.

Will flails about trying to dislodge both the spider and the webs.

Will attempts to escape the webs.

escape artist roll1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

is it possible to maneuver in the room without being caught up in webs? if so Will moves under the spiders and casts color spray (will dc 15 negates) at the spiders. if not, he readies an action to cast color spray on them both as soon as they are in range. for reference

2 HD or less: The creature is unconscious, blinded, and stunned for 2d4 rounds, then blinded and stunned for 1d4 rounds, and then stunned for 1 round. (Only living creatures are knocked unconscious.)

3 or 4 HD: The creature is blinded and stunned for 1d4 rounds, then stunned for 1 round.

5 or more HD: The creature is stunned for 1 round.

Will shrugs as well.

"Right seems as good a direction as any."

He then double checks to make sure his crossbow is loaded and waits for Alerio to give the all clear.

Will reloads his crossbow and fires again at the nearest dog.

Will moves forward, careful to not get closer to the dogs than Soth Loren, and lets fly with a crossbow bolt.

"Well, the darkness sure as heck hinders me. I hope no one minds if I carry a light."

Will chants briefly and his staff begins to glow.

i'm casting light. it should last ten minutes, and i'll cast again when it runs out

Will considers Godwin's comment for a moment, then waves his hand in a "maybe yes, maybe no" motion.

"It's possible, but those dogs are pretty ineffectual. I mean, we have an armored guy on a horse, it's entirely plausible he could have taken them all out by himself. The dog I shot ran away at the first hint of pain. If they were set on us by someone, what did they hope to gain do you think?"

Will looks briefly at his wound, saying only, "Well that was no fun." He then points his finger at his face and a bright silver ray shoots out of his finger and splashes against his skin.

He then walks over and stares at the dead dogs for a second. Then he bends down and touches them briefly. As he does, his hair and eyes crackle with bright silver sparks. He then looks up at everyone.

are the dogs actually dead or just at negative HP? will is going to touch them and try to use his sacred touch trait to stabilize them

"Stupid things were probably just hungry. Anyone else get bitten and need some healing?"

Will reloads his crossbow, cursing under his breath at his wound. He then fires at the nearest dog.

only thing i'll do differently than i've already stated is i'll take a five foot step away from the dog biting me before firing my crossbow

Will wordlessly readies his crossbow to fire at the first dog he sees.

i'm going to ready an action to shoot the first dog that gets withing range. gonna go ahead and roll initiative and to hit and stuff now just to speed things up.

Will uses his staff to lever himself to his feet, letting out a slight groan. He stretches for a second, and then checks to make sure his crossbow is easily accessible.

"It'll be interesting to see what we find over there. If several people have disappeared there should be some evidence of their passage. You guys any good at reading tracks?"

so far so good. i've never run a sorcerer before so i'm really curious to see how it goes. also can't wait to meet the master of the fallen fortress. heh.

Will squints in the direction Godwin is pointing.

"Hah. I still can't see anything, but I'll take your word for it. Hopefully will be an easy walk. I seem to be somewhat out of shape these days."

So saying he drops to the dirt with a thump and leans against his pack.

Will inspects the tree as they crest the hill.

"I love big trees. Unfortunately I don't know a damn thing about them. This one looks cool though."

Will looks pensive as he listens to the others. He strokes the scars on his face, unconsciously it seems.

"I, too, am searching for information. Three years I've spent crawling through moldy old stacks of books, consulting sages and seers, and still no mention of anything like these damn scars. At this point I figured I'm just as likely to randomly stumble over information as I am to find it in an organized search."

He lightens up again as he grins.

"Plus, I'm bored. And I admit impressing the ladies wouldn't be so bad."

Will laughs.

"Beats me," he says with a shrug. "I'm just going by what the good Captain told us. Although I'm pretty sure I saw a map once that said this road goes south. Once we lose sight of the road though, and without the sun, I won't have the foggiest idea where we are or what we're doing."

"Well, I do believe Captain Kerlion said we would have to travel the plains due south. Hopefully we should find it without too much trouble."

With that, Will steps off the road into the grass.

Will chuckled loudly "Well gentleman, I have a feeling we're all going to get along swimmingly. Did anyone remember to bring anything to drink?"

just realized i forgot to buy gear. are we doing average gold to start? i'm just gonna get a crossbow, staff, backpack, and rations most likely.

Will gives a friendly smile all around. His scars almost seem to move in the dreary light. Despite the scars, he gives off a positive vibe.

"Name's Will. I guess you could say I'm a seeker after knowledge. I have some small magical ability that might come in handy in a pinch."

while not particularly interested in becoming an eagle knight, he is definitely sympathetic with them. in fact, it seems reasonable if there are any he would have approached them looking for info.

will is definitely friendly and gregarious. perhaps drinking buddies? godwin at least should be into that.

well Will would definitely have been hanging out around libraries and/or university type places if anyone else has a reason to be in those style areas.

alright, got the character mostly done. everything should be fine, but let me know if i've missed anything majorly wrong.

also, just want to say, if it comes down to between me and jlighter, pick him since he was kind enough to run a carrion crown pbp and let me in it.
