Wilhelm was born to a family of Germanic nobility in 1422. His family's political fortunes had faded over the years, but they still retained a degree of wealth and influence, enough to ensure he grew up rather comfortable. But he realized early on that he'd never inherit much in the way of land; his older brothers would take care of that.
Trade brought power, so Wilhelm gravitated towards that field, deciding that trade would bring him what blue blood could not. He's young but has already made a name for himself as a successful merchant, building up influence among the spice trade in particular. He's charming and has something to prove, both to himself and his family; he desires to surpass the rest of his kin who are content to rest on their laurels.
But trade is the business he engages in. Its a field he's very good at and seems to have a bright future in, but its never been his true passion. Since he was a boy Wilhelm has been blessed with great beauty, and its a gift he's not humble about. He's a shameless flirt and enjoys seducing any pretty lass he's come across (and perhaps the occasional man.) He has a love and appreciation for the aesthetic that would make a Toreador blush, and he seeks out beauty and beautiful experiences.
On the negative side, this has rendered him incredibly vain as a person. He truly believes he's the most beautiful man in the world, and he does everything he can to ensure he keeps that title. And he tends to have a disgust for those things and people he deems as ugly.
