Warren is an artist.
That should be enough to describe why someone would spend the last 10 years of their lives studying giants as subjects for paintings. Giant legends, giant songs, giant bones, giant historical records, Warren has absorbed it all in an attempt to understand his subject better.
And yet, he hates them. He hates giants and giantkind intensely. He hates their cultures, their tribes, their size, their violence. But from that wellspring of hatred comes inspiration, passion, vigor and art. And so he studies, and sketches. But something has been missing in his art of late, the last few years have been less and less productive. It was only a few months ago that Warren realized that he needed to see more giants in the flesh. That he needed to see them up close to gain a better understanding of them, to better his art.
So he hatched a plan, a bit mad, a bit ambitious, to travel to the farthest mountain fastness where he might learn more. He sold his business, sold his home, and outfitted a small expedition consisting of a guide, a porter and himself. Traveling lightly and quietly, they would have been able to slip in and around giants and their kin so Warren could study them.
Unfortunately, orcs. Now the others in the expedition are tortured and dead, and Warren is soon to join them.
