Cambot gets a great shot of Leannah drawing her longsword and trying to cut herself free of the crab's pincer!

As requested, botting Leannah. An attack sounds reasonable, and I'll apply the grappled condition modifier.

Vitellius narrates as Cambot catches the action. It's almost like he's the ringside announcer at a professional cyber-wrestling match! "Oh my! The crab monster has Leannah trapped tight with its pincer! But the wily Starfinder isn't through yet, and I just bet she's got a skimmer ace up her sleeve!"

Using my Inspiring Boost on Leannah--should take care of most of the damage from the pincer attack.

Rushing to keep pace with Leannah (microphone at the ready), Vitellius stops short when he sees the crab-monster! "Cambot, get a pic of this!" he shouts.

I've moved my token onto the walkway with a good angle of all the action. Will do Total Defense.

"Cambot's ready! I suggest you all mentally rehearse some catchy dialogue to say during the rescue. Maybe 'Starfinders save the day!' or 'When you need help, look to the stars!' Oh, and find some stuff to jump over even if you could just walk around it."

"A great twist! I sense potential for a ghostwritten memoir if we can find this person and hear their tale of terror and woe!"

"If someone could fire up that computer, I'll send what I have so far to editing."

Seeing his allies hesitate, Vitellius shouts "Cut! Cambot, edit out that pause. Okay folks, time is money, and money is viewers, and I can't lose out on either."

Looking everyone over, he points towards the jump jets on George 09-23's armor. "Can you rocket through? That'd make great footage even if you short-out and crash into a wall!"

And since George is Level 4, that's safer than us Level 1s trying something :)

Vitellius takes a step back, his eyes wide with excitement and expectation. An electrocution might make this puff piece go viral!

Vitellius finally puts away the comlink he's been speaking into for hours. He looks around and blinks as if he's forgotten where he is. "Sorry everyone! My agent. There's an opening for an evening broadcast anchor over on the Burning Archipelago, and I had to walk him through which highlights of my amazing career to select for my audition tape. So--where were we? I remember seeing a creature chomping on some cables and another one collecting drops. I'm sure Cambot got most of the footage, though we may need some of you to do some ADR on the dialogue. Hmm . . . this looks interesting!"

I don't have any of those three skills. I get a lot of skill points, but Level 1 is still Level 1 :)

"Excellent news!" Vitellius exclaims. "These feel-good puff pieces have a stable audience, but if I can add in some real adventure and excitement, this story could lead off prime-time!"

"That's a great story!" enthuses Vitellius, as Sam Silverwood relates how he lost an eye. "Just the sort of dramatic character background the audience will love. Here, you record the whole thing in this microphone, and I'll keep these little brats from distracting you!"

Vitellius proceeds to teach an impromptu seminar on how to curry favor with the best sources in various Absalom communities, from the Lorespire Complex to the gangs of Downlow.

Diplomacy to Teach: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

"A fascinating story!" observes Vitellius. "I'll have to interview this 'Pip' fellow later on--skittermanders really pop on the screen. Heck, I wouldn't have this job if one didn't decide to help me out by resigning and recommending me for the vacancy!"

Vitellius keeps talking as he wanders around with Cambot to make sure ASNN has an excellent selection of footage to draw from. Everyone within ear shot is sure to pick up some interesting (and occasionally disturbing) facts about modern broadcast news.

I'll try Teacher.

Vitellius waits to see how the Starfinders interact with the dragonkin, consulting with Cambot on how to deal with the ambient noise.

"These Starfinders have been tasked with learning all about the refugee community here in the Ghost Levels--what they need, how many of them there are, and what sorts of dangers are about. And I'm here to record every second of it! They seem to be a shy crew, so you might have to do most of the talking. Oh! You should shake their hands as they dole out the supplies they brought--that'd be perfect for me to narrate over later."

"Ooh, this is gold!" says Vitellius to himself, getting into position so that the clashing Starfinders, thugs, and hapless victims are all in the shot behind him. He motions to Cambot to start recording and starts speaking into a microphone.

"Violence was in the air today as a group of bandits were about to rob some refugees when agents of the Starfinder Society arrived. Given how horribly outnumbered and outgunned the bandits are, this trained war correspondent expects severe casualties on their end! More at 11. Remember, when you want exciting local news, mostly live and in full color, Vitellius Korpopolis and the Absalom Station News Network have it all!"

Intimidate: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16

Vitellius shakes his head. "Are you kidding? I'm here to document the story, not be the story! But don't worry. If they kill you, I'll make sure it's all recorded for posterity in HD!"

From all appearances, an unarmed journalist like Vitellius is about the least intimidating person around.

Vitellius flashes her his trademarked (literally) two-thumbs-up + head-tilt smile + wink and hurries to catch up with the lashuntas heading below.

As Cambot takes in a wide zoom, Vitellius waits for one of the Starfinders to say something. This footage is going to be terrible. Are they shy? Guess I better nudge things along . . .

He strides up to the elderly clerk. "Vitellius Korpopolis, ASNN. But you probably already know that! These here junior members of the Starfinder Society have supplies for refugees rumored to be settling the Ghost Levels. Care to comment on their utter desperation driven by trauma and fear? The refugees' desperation, that is, not the Starfinders."

Vitellius smiles broadly at George 09-23, his mouth full of perfect teeth that sparkle, no doubt due to some kind of sponsorship arrangement with a toothpaste manufacturer. "I'd call that flattery, but it's perfectly true! Why, I've learned how to strike up a rapport with pretty much anyone--starship mechanics, poachers, con artists, and more--it's amazing the types of people I've encountered since being embedded with the Starfinder Society. Oh, excuse me one moment, I've just thought of something."

Vitellius takes out a small pocket recorder and speaks into it: "Note to self: add free gourmet breakfast and magical pastries to research file for story on undisclosed and possibly corrupt perqs of SFS membership."

"Food bank it is!" says Vitellius, getting up from his chair. "Makes good b-roll footage around the holidays--we still dig up stuff from years ago, and no one notices! The key," he says with a wink, "is enough of it that the audience feels all warm and fuzzy, but not so much that they feel guilty that they're not actually doing anything. Journalism really is a balancing act!"

Vitellius nods enthusiastically during the description of the mission. "Refugees? Community spirit? Danger? These human-interest sob stories are champs when it comes to award season!"
