About Vilkrath Oathkeeper

Vilkrath's clan had a long-standing treaty with a large tribe of goblins nearby. The treaty was established one hundred years before Vilkrath's birth by his father, Kilran Oathkeeper. The treaty ended centuries of bloodshed between Vilkrath's clan and the goblins residing only a few miles to the East of the clan. When Vilkrath was 63, a new goblin leader came to power -- Grigloth the Cruel. At first, Grigloth encouraged his tribe members to attack any weaker dwarves they met incidentally in the woods or on the hills. After a number of small, successful clashes against elderly and very young dwarves, Grigloth organized raids on Vilkrath's clan to obtain food, gold, and trinkets. The first two were minimally successful, but subsequent raids were met with strong resistance from the dwarves. Eventually, Vilkrath's father, Kilran, organized his kinsmen to make war with the goblins, if they could not restore peace with them. Vilkrath and his older brother Thirok were the commanders; they attempted to negotiate the terms of the treaty with Grigloth, but he and a number of his goblin generals attacked the brothers during negotiations. The dwarves that Kilran readied for battle rushed over the hill at the sound of the skirmish and laid waste to the goblin horde, dispersing most of the tribe, including Grigloth himself, who ran from the battlefield. After the battle, the Oathkeepers worked with the remaining goblins to establish another treaty and forced them to settle a number of miles further East. Vilkrath's father and brother Thirok entreated Vilkrath to join the Pathfinder Society to go in search of Grigloth the Cruel to thwart him for his wrongdoing. Meanwhile, they will continue to work with the goblins to foster peace and keep their dwarven kinsmen safe.
