About Verkir Dolor

Verkir was raised in Nidal, where worship of an evil diety is normal at best and a necessary evil at worst. Verkir's father was the town physician, and Verkir was an avid pupil. He lacked the inherent magic that his father used to craft the towns medicines, so his healing was restricted to the strictly physical sort. He loves his family, but he did grow slightly envious of the power that magical healing his family had in abundance. When his siblings where able to join the family business of alchemical healers, he decided that he had to forge his own path. The next day, at the tender age of 15 he told his family that he intended to join the local church of Zon Kuthon. Though hesitant, his family eventually relented and gave their blessing. What followed were the torturous initiations and even more painful lessons that would make up the bulk of his religious studies. He prayed and prayed but received no response. Verkir found he needed an extra "push" to truly commune with his god. He modified a coffin with multiple little spikes and had the other priests nail him inside. Dark whispers could be heard coming from within, of not one but two voices. After three days of no food or water, Verkir broken open the coffin from within. All color had been drained from his body, and he had gained the blessing of his god. He penned his own religious text, which reads like both an anatomical manual and a rambling religious text. Dark portents of using pain to fend off the void that exists beyond the stars, just as he believes Zon Kuthon does. Now he travels so that he may both heal those of their afflictions, and spread the pain of his god in equal measure.
