Nice, I will ask the GM. thanks for the ideas guys.

Hi guys, I come to you for knowledge and wisdom.

-The set up:
In an upcoming table the GM has asked me to make some kind of "grappler". Yeah yeah "tetori monk, end of thread" but wait there is more. The tricky thing is that the GM has limited the books for that table.

The campaign will start at level 2 and will end at level 10 or so.

Material available:
-Core Rulebook
-Advanced PLayer's guide
-Advanced Class Guide
-Ultimate Equipment
-Ultimate Campaign
-Some comanion books like the Animal Archive for example.

and thats it. No Ultimate Combat/Magic.

Other limitations:
-Low magic world, and low cash income... so don't count with overthetop magic items, only the simple ones.
-No full casters.

So with this in mind I am open to your opinions.

One of my ideas was to be a Hunter / Sacred Huntsmaster Inquisitor with a snake(constrictor) companion. The pretty thing of the snake is that it can go anywhere without raising any eyebrows, and with the feat "evolved familiar" for a +8 to stealth and the feat "stealth synergy" even more so.

anyway, thats was my thinking. I'm listening for your ideas.

edit: I just read the last part Velkan's post. There's a couple problems with his mammoth rider suggestion. Snake isn't on the list of mammoth mounts. Animal Growth doesn't stack with the mammoth rider's ability that increases his mount size.

ups my bad, thanks for correcting me :)

"question 1: based on the rules of a animal companion, it appears they only get enough skill points, to max one. If i somehow incressed it's inteligence (human, eye for talent), would it then incresse they skill point it gain? Compared to the stats from beastiry, a constrictor gets alot more skill points, so i am a little confuse about this."

The CRB says that the animal only gets more skill points if the INT goes to 10 or more. If you want more skills the human alternative class bonus helps (+1 skillpoint per level).

"question 2: Idea for feats so far is: Weapon focus (bite), improved unarmed attack, feral combat training and improved grapple at lvl 9.
Future feats, would be greater grapple, power attack, furious focus, improved natural attack. Would this be a good setup for the snake or have i missed something? "

I am not a big fan of the feral combat training for the AC. Improved grapple gives it bonus to grapple cheacks not to the unarmed attacks, same goes to greater grapple. ande the grappling styles are not THAT much good than the constrict.

"Question 3: If we stick to the idea of a giant snake that choke things to death (thank you Animal growth!), what feats would fit into this idea? Combat expertise is kinda needed, for pack flanking, power attack would be great with a two-handed weapon but other those two, im a lost. I have considered some of the vital strike feats, combined with nature spells, would provivde some interesting debuffs. Also thinking about getting leadership, in order to get a twin sister, that is a skald (fated champion)"

The thing of grappling is that the other guy CAN full attack you with 1 handed weapons or something alike. I love getting Mounted combat and being able to ignore 1 of those full attacks. If the GM rise the eyebrows for mounting a snake you can get the "evolved companion" feat and take the "moun" evolution. Also, the "reach" evolution is nice.

"Question 4: When it comes to teamwork feats, outflank and pack flanking are very importent. I did consider paried oppetunity, in case of a AoO, could give a good bost. Anything else?"

remember that while in a grapple a creature connot make AoO (paried opportunist to the toilet). If you will be adyacent to it most of the time "shake it of" is a good one (the feat not the taylor swift awesome song). If you want to try and grapple the terrasque, "coordinated maneuvers might help.

Other thing i can tell you:
Grab only works on creatures of the same size. but Grapple has no restriction (correct me if im wrong) so the maneouvre trick might be usefull.

The primal companion hunter archetype gives you a 2point evolution, "trip" might be excelent for this. Your snake attacks, trips AND grapples, if you add Rattling Strike trick (skirmisher ranger) it also adds "shaken" for 1d4 so... if the enemy attacks your snake it has a hefty penalty to it and you have mounted combat for any lucky roll.

Another thing, at lvl 11 (after you get Animal growth) you can take the mammoth rider prestige class and ask your GM to add the snake as a posible "gigantic steed" then it would be a huge AC an grow to gargantuan for more awesomness.

m... thats all I can think of for now.

PS: excuse my poor english.

If the encumbrance is only an issue in combat you can always carry thing in the saddlebags and unknot them at the start of the combat it shouldn't be mora than a move action TOPS.

m... it will be a varied adventure but I incline more for the Dungeon Crawl type.

Kydeem: those are great tips thanks!

-Martial front-liner or full-caster blaster?

i don't really know. because i will be the "fill this job" guy (i always tend to be that guy, even more now because the other players are new to pathfinder). martial or caster it dosen't matter is just a discussion about posible builds.
Don't worry about optimization, its just to talk about builds that dosen't need to be 12lvls to get their act together (like for example the "Come and get me" barbarian)

the other party members are not decided yet... but i think there is a cleric already.

Core races only.
About the Ultimates... maybe an archetype or a specific feat will be available I doubt that more than that.

Hello you guys.

i'm starting an adventure soon. said adventure is going to start at 3rd lvl and end at around 9lvl.

the books avaiable are the CRB and APG, and only if the GM is in a good mood the Ultimates and the Advance Race Guide.

I want to know what would you play and why?
There is no need to post an entire build just the general guidelines of it and why you would play that.
There is no party yet so there is no restriction of "what ever is missing".

I also have some ideas of you want to comment about them:
-Human Alchemist 3: because of Feral Mutagen and Smoke bombs + some general utility.

-Halfling Fighter 2/Oracle(nature) 1: with spirited charge and power attack, charging stuff and some spellcasting for goodies. OR druid 1 for a Roc as a mount.

-Human Cavalier(cockatrice) 2/Rogue(thug/scout) 1: Intimidating beast to try and get people running around screaming.

-Half-Orc Rogue(thug/scout) 3: enforcer and skill focus (intimidate) to make people run AND aply sickened.

-Halfling Rogue(thug) 1/ Bard 2: skill focus (string) and Taunt... seriously a guitar guy that can make people scream in terror :D (i don't see the GM digging this though he is more of a serious "not orther of the stick" guy)

Anyways, tell me what would you play and why? and if you want comment on the concepts above i would appreciate it :)

PS: sorry for my english.
