About Varin Armatus

Though Varin was born to a noble family in Taldor, he never felt a strong connection with his country. He found the failing empire to be pretentious, and desired to see the world outside. When he became a man he traveled the world, journeying to far-off Tian-Xia, where he became fascinated with the cultures and sights -- particularly the Iroran monks and their dedication to self-perfection. Varin joined and learned from them, eventually becoming a devotee of the Enlightened as well.

In his studies, Varin realized that these teachings could be applied to his homeland. He knew that with dedication and hard work, Taldor could shake loose its current lethargy and become great once again. He returned home to enact his plans, and eventually joined the Pathfinder Society, seeing the Society as a way to further his own pursuit of self-perfection, as well as gain prestige and fame so that his countrymen might follow him towards a bright and glorious future.
