Scarab Sages

I'd be interested. Just let me get home and I'll set something up.

Scarab Sages

D. I tend to be as vague as possible.

Me? My dad wanted me to be the best. Now I am. I can out fight any of the boys in town and most of the men too. I will admit to being a bit of the bully in the past but I don't like it when people try to push me around. Generally if you are good to me, I'll be good to you.

That thing? That's Smasher, my Earth Breaker. No one expects a little thing like me to carry such a massive weapon. It puts them off guard. Nobody makes that mistake twice though.

I just have a few things left to pack for my first big adventure and then I'm ready to go!

You should definitely check out the firearm rules in Tome of Secrets. They are very similar to yours, but also include cannons and other larger weapons. Magic firearms are included too although I spotted a couple items that are just way to good to ever allow.

I have to agree with the notion that many people don't like high level adventures. I prefer the 8-14 range. I think AoW has soured me on high level play. Each battle resorts to Save or Die fest, making saves vs massive damage most rounds. Our battle vs Dragotha took two full 5 hour sessions. After playing for almost a year and a half everyone was so burned out the DM shortened the last adventure and we ended up losing vs Kyuss. No one had any desire to give it a second run.

Pathfinder APs are much better (and shorter). Second Darkness took about 6-7 months to complete. Some of the battles toward the end got rather complex but not overwhelming. So far LoF seems to be on target for delivering an ending before we lose interest. The Final Wish should begin in 10 days.

Does the upgrades to the paladin for Pathfinder make it too powerful for a normal 3.5 game? The standard paladin is lack luster so I wanted to swap the pathfinder version in but don't want it to outshine the other characters. If it is too powerful any suggestions to balance it a bit?

vs cleric, druid, or wizard probably not. Compared to everyone else yes.

If you want bad ass cleric ideas look no further then Divine Metamagic: Persist. For the cost of 3 feats, you can run around all day buffed with Divine Power, Righteous Might, etc. With more spells and splatbooks the craziness just increases. Don't forget to abuse Nightsticks!
