Born in The Crown District of Carion Hill, Valerian wanted for little. He served in houses of nobles, was paid well, and had a stimulating social life with the nobility of Ustalav. That all changed when the city was under siege by a creature summoned from beyond the stars by a local cult. Terror ruled his home for weeks, until a group of Pathfinder agents arrived and slew the beast terrorizing his home. When they left, Valerian knew that he had to do more than sit in the decadence of his home district. He walked through The Tangle and met with merchants and immigrants. He waded through The Filth and learned of the conditions the poor in the district suffered through daily. Valerian wanted to make a difference, wanted a change in the world, but most of all in his own city. It was then that he was approached by a member of the Sovereign Court with an offer: join the pathfinder society, use its resources to help unite the nobility of Avistan and wake them from the slumber of decadence they had fallen to, neglecting the ones they were meant to serve. He didn't need to think twice about it. But he knew he couldn't do it alone. He knew the horrors that lay in his world, and that he'd need someone at his side to help him in his mission. Valerian went to The Filth, and beseeched the multiverse for anyone that would listen, and he was answered by Erastil. Armed with the blessing of the divine, Valerian left for the City at the Center of the World, to find his heroes, and to be a lantern in a world being eveloped by darkness.
