About Vaelus Wraithkin

APPEARANCE:

At a height of 6' 3", Vaelus Wraithkin combines a liquid fluidity and economy of motion which few others exhibit; his preternatural agility and elven aloofness combine to give him a subtle predatory look. He is lithe and muscular, weighing just under 165 lbs and built like an athlete. His straight silver hair is around shoulder length and typically kept in a full- or half-topknot. His eyes, like his hair, are a shimmering silver. And, unlike the typical Harrow Elf, his features are youthful and smooth - unmarred with the horrific physical deformities prevalent in his race, though his face is weary and his eyes are often forlorn or focused into a wary glare.

When dressed for adventure, his once-fine clothing is now well-worn. What once was clearly a very fine black silk breechcloth, with delicate elfcraft embroidery is tattered and fraying along the bottom. Hugging his chest is what appears to be an armored jerkin, adorned with purposefully-blackened steel chevrons firmly affixed to it. From his waist, under the ragged black breechcloth, his legs are wrapped in more leathers and blackened steel - mostly articulated metal plates sewn to leather backing - giving his armor a piecemeal and somewhat-mercenary appearance. Finally, he wears an olive-brown travelling cloak draped across his shoulders, with the hood pulled low over his face.

Strapped to his waist, he carries a holstered hand crossbow, a bolt pouch secured just to the side of the holster.

At his left hip, two gently curving single-edged swords (slender and thin) slumber in black-laquered sheathes, one notably longer than the other. He has one dagger strapped to his left boot, one to his right thigh, and one each hidden in his bracers against his forearms. He has a final two daggers on his person: one is concealed along the folding and wrapped-cloth waistline of his breechcloth and the other is concealed underneath his crossbow holster.


PERSONALITY:

Vaelus' personality is that of his people - somber and focused. He can have incredible intensity, and incredible melancholy. He knows that the Harrow Elves are hated and feared, and he shares this opinion of his people - even of himself. However, the depravity to which evil Harrow Elves can fall, and have fallen, sickens and enrages him. It is a bitter, cold fury which pushes him forwards, and drives him to excel and earn recognition - not the recognition of Ptolans, but his own recognition and his own self-respect is a far more valuable commodity and powerful driver.


BACKGROUND:

Vaelus is a Ptolus native who grew up hard in Midtown, and the Warrens in particular. He's lived long enough to try his hand at a variety of careers - running the gamut from a brief career in thuggery when he was very young, to decades as a city watch guard after serving several years' time in jail for his lawlessness (and carelessness).

While he has a few contacts from both sides of the law, his days as a proponent or opponent of the law have waned. Recently, he has tried to settle in for a quiet life as a brothel owner, but restlessness stirs within his chest, and the self-confidence once proudly burning within him as a guard has waned.

Looking for opportunities, he has begun to keep his pointed ear to the ground, waiting for the right chance to reclaim adventure and to prove himself once more.

He currently resides in Midtown, spending his days working in the Ghostly Minstrel, and his evenings drinking there.
