About Uuli

Uuli Stonejaw at your service.

Concept:

Uuli (pronounced ooh-LEE) Stonejaw is intended to be a defensively focused inquisitor that fights as well as he casts. He will focus on using his shield to increase the armor of others, buffing/healing his party members, and swinging axes/hammers at his enemies.

Out of combat, he will focus on Religious issues, monster lore, and interacting with others via Sense Motive.

Background:

Uuli was born into a clan of miners who live in the mountains near Janderhoff in Varisia. He is large by dwarven standards and his clan was excited to think of the ore he could produce.

Unfortunately for the clan, Uuli was often more interested in fighting and exploring than in mining. He would occasionally disappear into the depths of mineshafts for days or weeks at a time, to return with the head or claws of some trophy animal. Behavior like that eventually earned Uuli the reputation of being flighty and unreliable, for a dwarf.

As rumors of Uuli's proclivities spread, he came to the attention of the dwarven priests of Angradd. Normally, they train members of their order to be resolute and unyielding while focusing on their ability to channel their faith into divine magics. The priests saw a special spark in Uuli and instead trained him as a Warrior-Priest ((Inquisitor)).

As Uuli worked through his training, he was sent out into the world to have experiences that could not be gained at the forge (and to keep him out of the beards of his elders). It is expected that one day, Uuli will return to the priesthood and train a new group of priests but until that time he is given wide latitude to wander the world and increase his abilities.

You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to your 3 + Wisdom bonus (minimum 1).
Monster Lore: The inquisitor adds her Wisdom modifier on Knowledge skill checks in addition to her Intelligence modifier, when making skill checks to identify the abilities and weaknesses of creatures.
Stern Gaze: Inquisitors are skilled at sensing deception and intimidating their foes. An inquisitor receives a morale bonus on all Intimidate and Sense Motive checks equal to 1/2 her inquisitor level (minimum +1).

Defensive Training: Dwarves gain a +4 dodge bonus to AC against monsters of the giant subtype.

Stability: Dwarves gain a +4 racial bonus to their Combat Maneuver Defense when resisting a bull rush or trip attempt while standing on the ground.
Greed: Dwarves gain a +2 racial bonus on Appraise checks made to determine the price of non-magical goods that contain precious metals or gemstones.
Stonecunning: Dwarves gain a +2 bonus on Perception checks to notice unusual stonework, such as traps and hidden doors located in stone walls or floors. They receive a check to notice such features whenever they pass within 10 feet of them, whether or not they are actively looking.
Darkvision: Dwarves can see perfectly in the dark up to 60 feet.
Hatred: Dwarves gain a +1 racial bonus on attack rolls against humanoid creatures of the orc and goblinoid subtypes because of their special training against these hated foes.

Personality:

Uuli is unusually outgoing for a dwarf, which means he is happy to drink ale in public with others. He will tell a joke or two on occasion, as well.

He is also very dedicated to Angradd, studying battles and tactics at every chance he gets. He tries to apply these tactics in his personal battles, often designing complicated battle plans. Dwarves tend to view Uuli as somewhat flighty and lacking in focus, which means he is about like the average human when it comes to dedication and stubbornness.
