In the Hold of Beltzen, Usual was born into a battle-stricken environment. Only the tough survived, and apparently his parents ceased to be part of that body when he was 8; a response from Lastwall decimated their frontier village, and the Orcs whom were still alive fled in a frenzy.
(Un)fortunately, Usual fled the wrong way. To the Southeast, he ran into the shelters of the forest. There, he was met at spear's edge by a druid he came to know as Shala. The human women regarded him as an enemy at first, but could not bring herself to kill the child. Over time, she broke his inner fight and taught him the importance of balance in all things - pointing out the conflict between Lastwall and Beltzen as existence of extremism in the word and the problems it caused.
Puberty turned the Usul into a powerful young man, and like most young men, he pushed to be on his own. Shala did not restrain him, knowing that was his nature, but she did not want him to be completely alone. She disappeared into the wilds for a few days and returned with a young wolf. A parting gift for Usul, the creature would keep him company.
He traveled South, reaching the border of the human settlement of Kassen. Avoiding it completely in the beginning, he recalled the importance of balance - that included isolation. Knowing the humans' hatred of Orcs though, he brought in a fresh bit of game kill as an offering of peace. Most of the town steered far clear of him, and no shopkeeper seemed to want to do business with him.
A stubborn young man, he was not easily discouraged - his constant donations of fish and meat paid off, and in time, the shopkeepers agreed to do business with him - but out of coin, not liking. He was happy to be independent, but now Usul felt ... lonely? He would have to work harder to better acquaint himself with the town...
