Raised in the HellSpawn Mountains by the
Ghakd ’Usg Vagza , a tribe of orcs known to others as the FireSkull Tribe, Tunk became strong of body fast in life. The FireSkull had a devoted fanaticism to fire and its destructive essence. They practiced spiritual burning of one’s flesh to show strength, honor and devotion. To this day, Tunk bears many scars and even his skin is the color of smoke, as if he was spitted over a fire as a babe. Maybe he was.
Never knowing his father, his orc mother, a powerful Shaman of Grol-Chen named Nwuqa, brought him up in a brutal life of battle and survival of the fittest. Tunk learned early on to become strong and fast against the larger orcs of his tribe. He had to prove himself everyday. At a young age he was forced to brawl, then as he grew he was judged by his hunting prowess. This was the only life he knew.
By age 12, he took part in raiding parties. Tunk received a red-colored skull painted on his face. Then the raiding party would attack nearby settlements to take food, weapons, wealth, and slaves. These raiding parties would then burn the shell of the settlement, hence leaving the tribe’s signature mark and letting neighboring settlements know that the FireSkull would be coming.
After one successful destructive foray though, the celebrating raiding party was attacked. A group of human, elves, dwarfs, and half-orcs pulled a retaliatory strike. They killed all of the orcs, and as Tunk’s life was going to taken, a half-orc intervened and spared it. Tunk was taken to a village named Whispering Meadows and treated as a prisoner. At this village, the Half-Orc who spared him, Lut by name, talked to the young Tunk to find out more about him. Lut, deciding that environment not personality swayed Tunk’s behavior, talked to him about the outside world. Tunk was unaware of how is actions truly effected the world around him. All he ever knew, up until now, was the lifestyle of the FireSkull Tribe. Lut told him about Ulati, a more peaceful orc deity, but also instructed him with wisdom on how Tunk should make more informed decisions. To gather information before deciding on courses of action regarding ideals and philosophies. Most of this went over Tunk’s head, but he understood the general idea.
After two months of imprisonment, Tunk was taken miles away from Whispering Meadows and released. He was told not be seen in this area again, but Lut also wished him good luck. In the years that followed, Tunk survived by his strength and outdoor wits. He defended himself from attack many times, taking from his downed foes the assortment of weapons and armor that he carries with himself today. Wandering the world, he learned of the City of Mondthep and its many houses of religion. Tunk has decided to travel here to find out where he belongs in this world and to discover what Lut was talking about regarding ideals and philosophies. What ever they are.
