The way we have done it locally is we "ask the GM's permission" if something is a certain way, then it's the honor system based on the GM's feedback. Some may agree or disagree with certain things being applicable in certain cases, which is why we do it that way.

Yup, we are on the exact same page there. Even more "fun" is it doesn't test our in-character knowledge. It's a purely metagame knowledge encounter to solve the puzzle.

Yes, I know this is probably provoking.

"You know that magic from the discs could possibly imprison it right? Magic can go beyond what you see." Tsishad says this slightly annoyed, but focuses his gaze on the discs for if he ever escapes this thing's grasp.

To me, it's pretty obvious the discs are there to help somehow. I don't know how, so I'm guessing that they'll imprison it again.

Updated stat line. I had 14 HP of false life so took 18 actual damage.

"Get the discs! Maybe we can imprison it again!"

"Holy moly! It's a Xacarba! They resist all elements, immune to electricity and poison, resist magic, and you need to use holy weapons to be the most effective! Also, you need to cast carefully or they can twist your magic." You want to cast defensively when casting a spell. You REALLY want to cast defensively every time.

GM: So what exactly happened with the discs? Are those new discs over there? Since we were missing two, this could be extremely important I think (especially with your hint that we can move through the beast).

Tsishad tries to cast Liberating Command defensively on Aelfward.

Or shoot, we could move the Light one to the Stars. It's probably one of those two. If not, we could try like the other 9 combinations we didn't try.

If nothing happens, next suggestion is moving the Darkness Disc from Void to Moon.

Tsishad covers up the area of clothing emitting Daylight for a little to see if that helps.

As Tsishad finishes his studies, he states, "Can the Light disc be activated? Perhaps there needs to be actual light happening and that's the solution." Tsishad tries to activate the disc.

Still want to have Daylight going on Tsishad regardless.

The hint we were given was make a list of spells with the [light] descriptor and think about it. Unfortunately, I don't have time to parse through such a list but wanted to at least convey that information.

Tsishad goes super-nerd and starts with buffs and studying. He also takes out his Wand of Daylight. Tsishad doesn't play around with darkness, if that's what's coming. In fact, he had to cast Daylight 3 times in the last scenario, which then graciously gave him this wand on the chronicle. ;)

He casts Mirror Image.
Mirror Image: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

He also takes out a Wand of Heightened Awareness, uses it, then put it away. +4 initiative to the next battle.

If it's alright, Tsishad is going to fill out his empty spell slots some. He has fast study, so it only 1 minute per spell to fill an empty slot. Since he made the Knowledge (Arcana) check, he may be favoring a certain spell.

If so, he's going to prepare spells in this order: Daylight (and then cast it immediately on himself), Black Tentacles, Spectral Hand (and then cast it immediately). You tell me how far he gets.

"If I recall, we have a Light disc and a Darkness disc." Tsishad thinks for a little, then starts to ramble. "I mean, Void is the obvious choice for Darkness, but the Moon could also be dark at times. As for Light, the Sun is bright, but the Stars are also just as bright."

"But it could also be that the Moon and Sun are round entities, hence that's where the two discs go. I don't know if I'm over complicating or simplying it too much."

"Trying to keep this mask's magic going, but it seems to be fading." His distraction continues as he doesn't want the magic to fade.

Tsishad reaches out for anything that can help him. "Not sure the veil can help me directly, but perhaps there's greater magic at play here." Not sure that'll help now, but it's worth a shot.

Tsishad veers a little to the South (his left) in his movement, but hugs the wall and almost finds his way out. Going half speed, so he's not quite out of the room yet.

"I saw a vision of an xacarba attacking a cyclops, and the serpent blinded me as well. It's a haunt! Can someone give it a boost of positive energy?"

He wouldn't cast Mirror Image, and would probably try to stumble out of the room if he could back towards the entrance. Since he can't see, I'll let you decide how that plays out.

While the conversation occurs, Tsishad concentrates on Detect Magic to notice if there is anything else of note in the room.

Unsure himself completely what it is, Tsishad inquires about it. "It's abjuration magic, but it works like Grease? If it lasts a whole day, that sounds fantastic! Can we all benefit from it?"

Looks like 5 uses of that ability and 4 wand charges used. Marking that down.

Tsishad would let Kyra carry it.

If it is heavy, Tsishad won't want to carry it. If not, he's fine carrying it around.

"Do you wish for me to give you a buffer of life, a False Life, if you will?" Tsishad extends his lanky fingers to anyone who will accept his "blessing."

Upon touching the first to receive (whoever that is), you see the receiver of the "spell" get stronger as Tsishad gets weaker, but he quickly uses his Wand on himself and feels better again. I won't be offended if someone doesn't accept.

"It is glowing with a simple light cantrip it seems. Anyone have the ability to analyze such objects further?" Having seen Illuthion touch the orb before to determine the properties, he makes subtly less subtle by looking directly at him.

"Yes, we are here to take you back." Tsishad rubs his chin. "A scholar's work is never done, but safety protocol is also important to follow."

Tsishad interlaces his fingers with one another in a pensive stance. "Yes, it would be interesting to see if this idea works."

Tsishad uses a charge of his Wand of Mage Armor and heads down with the party.

Tsishad divulges the information he discovers to the party, out of sight of the subject herself. "She's subject to the Charm Monster enchantment."

I could have sworn when I updated I bought a Scroll of Suppress Charms & Compulsions for all my casters. Guess not.

Tsishad begins looking at the ruins and studying while the party continues to talk. He continues to do so until someone pulls him away. "Quite fascinating indeed..." As he studies, he uses his lanky fingers to point out interesting tidbits to himself to make a mental note.

Tsishad is more curious in the academic. Clearly, if something is so important as to stay, it's worth hearing about at least. "What is so interesting that has kept you here for so long?" The wayang crosses his arms.
