About Trade Princess Katarina

Born Catherine Shepherd, all she had to look forward to in her agrarian home town was to either inherit the family flock or marry up and become Catherine Smith or Catherine Cooper. Instead she set out for the big city, where she felt that her charm and intelligence would be better appreciated.
She started out working as an entertainer, doing sleight of hand tricks and stage magic. This seemed much less like actual work compared to looking after smelly sheep. This also allowed her access to large crowds of stupid people where she could fast talk unsuspecting dupes out of their money. Once she was introduced to the Pathfinder Society, she quickly realize that the Qadirans were her kind of people. She doesn't see herself as a thief so much as a deal maker; she just makes sure that the deals are always in her favor. While working for the Pathfinders, she invested some of her gains into a caravan, which has opened up whole new vistas of separating stupid people from their money.
Cat now enjoys mingling with the rich and influential in Absalom society, and has attended both the prestigious Blackros Matrimony, and the subsequent feast hosted by the newly wed couple. She left both gatherings with an expanded list of friends and contacts, and feels a particular kinship with the young wife of Senator Augustine Naran. Mrs. Naran has also risen from low beginnings, and Cat hopes to help speed her new friend towards a much deserved inheritance by pushing Senator Naran down a well when no one is watching.
Cat recently attended the Winter Masquerade hosted by the Lady Gabriella d'Apcher. Although it was a masquerade ball, with the identity of all the guests kept secret, Cat likes to "accidentally" let slip that the hostess dubbed her "The Cleverest Cat".
After a recent venture into Galt, to rescue Colson Maldris and several other prisoners (including, with some reluctance, Senator Naran) Cat has retired from active duty as a Pathfinder Agent. Her focus is on growing her trade network, but she could probably be coaxed back into the field if the Society needed a subtle hand and none of the current talent was up to the task.
