Mike and the Paizo team have done an outstanding job answering questions since the games release, and i am really grateful that they did, because there were certainly elements of game play that were not clear. I read the rulebook multiple times and it did not provide the answers to some of the questions that were raised over the past month.

Yes 98% of the core mechanic of game play was easy to grasp in the rulebook, but the last 2%. To me was the most critical, in terms of me feeling like i was playing correctly.

So, as nitpicky as some of the threads may have seemed, I think they did an incredible job of honing in on some really important components of game play that needed to be clarified. Mike's post and the FAQ have tightened up the rules to about 99.9%.

I'd also like to thank the nitpicky players, for asking the tough questions and providing the debate. Hopefully it's been seen as a service to the game rather than a nuisance. But it certainly seems like its been beneficial to all. So, thanks everyone.

I don't want to keep that debate running all day, so I'll stop after this one.

I completely agree with you that the weapon card would give the check the melee trait, and the card says you can use Strength or Melee, so I agree you can make a melee check, and therefore use the snake's power.

What I'm saying is, having the melee trait on the check doesn't allow you to use your Strength to make a Melee check. If you choose to make a Melee check, you'd use the untrainned die (1d4).

Unless Mike, Vic or Chad say I'm wrong...

I still disagree.

Lini uses a weapon with the melee trait.
The weapon says for your combat check roll your strength or melee die. She choses strength and discards a card to get a d10.
The weapon has the melee trait and that is part of the check, so now the snake can be used to contribute 1d4 by discarding it.

Cards give there traits to checks.

This is the same story with lem, the crossbow and the archer ally. Lem uses dex while using the the crossbow. The crossbow has the ranged trait, so now he can use the Archer.

That has been confirmed as working, i don't see any difference with the Lini example.

I've been playing that once a check with an encounter begins, no other check can start until that one resolves, so if I play an attack spell for combat check i will attempt the recharge after "make the roll" step and before "take damage" since the "make the roll" step is considered the end of the check from what I understand.

My reasoning behind this was from reading a thread about no nested checks, so it seemed like the right spot to recharge a spell before i forgot about it.

So, I just read this from another thread.

Nope—you don't recharge that Force Missile at the end of the check, you recharge it immediately after playing it

So, isn't that a nested check, if i have not completed the first check.

I'm fine playing it either way, but slightly confused.

Help please.

The penalty for me is having to reshuffle all these dang cards and set up again. That alone makes me uninterested in grinding for the best cards. I'd much rather win and see what the next adventure has to offer.
