As to the real reason you can't use Vital Strike with whirlwind attack, is because Vital Strike is used as an "attack action" which if you look up the different types of standard actions, it's on the list. So a Vital Strike is a standard action, which is also the reason why you cannot cleave and vital strike, because they are both standard actions.

As to trip with whirlwind attack, a trip may be used in place of an attack. So yes, you may trip everyone within your reach with a whirlwind attack. Although I'm fairly certain the way Whirlwind Attack is written, it means you would lose any attacks of opportunity granted by Greater version of improved trip. Although once they try to stand up on their action, you get some AoO's then.

Hope that helps.

thank you both for the input, that clears things up very well.

I was wondering can you choose to use a power attack when you make an attack of opportunity? How about a vital strike can that be used with an attack of opport.?

I heard from someone that you could combine trip with whirlwind attack so that you could attempt to trip everyone in reach(instead of attacking them). If that is true and you have the greater trip feat it seems to make sense that you would then get an attack of opportunity on each person you successfully trip(assuming you can make more then one attack of opport. per round) is that correct?

In the description of the whirlwind feat it reads that you lose all bonuses and extra attacks from feats abilities, spells and abilities. What are the limits of that if any? Does that include losing the damage bonus you get from strength boost due to spells (like bull's strength) or even from the rage class feature? Does that mean you can not power attack with whirlwind? Would you even lose the extra attacks of opportunity from the combat reflexes feat? It reads a bit to broad so I'm not sure, thanks for the feedback, Tony

tx a lot for the info that what I needed

I was wondering if you multiply the damage from power attack on a successful critical hit?

Another question I was wondering about is if I have a wand of scorching ray can I attack someone I am adjacent 2 with it since it is a ranged touch attack or do I have to be at range?

If I can attack an adjacent character with the wand of scorching ray will this provoke and attack of opportunity?

Lastly can I faint(assuming I have improved faint) that adjacent opponent with the wand of scorching ray and then ranged touch attack him without provoking an attack of opportunity?

1) Yes. The extra power attack damage is a fixed number, multiplied as "all your usual bonuses", not extra dice like precision damage wich is NOT multiplied.

2) Yes, you can attack an adjacent target with a ranged attack.

3) This will (almost always) provoke an attack of opportunity. There is some disagreement about this, search the board for the threads.

4) Feint. RAW says "the next MELEE attack you make" (emphasis mine). That said, as a house rule, that would be an interesting additional use for feint. I'm reminded of the Conan movie where the archer, out of arrows, feints against the horseman causing him to veer away.

Edit: Two threads about ranged touch attacks provoking. I'm not sure if the fact that you're casting from a wand has any effect on the answer.

Yes

As long as you meet the conditions you get sneak attack damage.

thanks for the info I thought so but its good to get confirmation.

But what if a pc wanted to craft a full plate for himself or a party member would that still take 2/3 of a year to do. I have a party member who wants to make a master craft full plate armor (as well as some other items) for another party member. How long would that take him to do in game time?

Does anyone know roughly how long it would take to craft a full plate armor with a base craft of 12 assuming you roll a 10 at the end of each week(so 22 total)? Maybe I am reading it wrong but it almost seems as if that would take more then 35 weeks at a craft roll of 22 at the end of each week due to its 1500gp base cost, is that right? It just seems super long to me.

ty that is exactly what I needed

Can you combine power att and vital strike? It seems to make sense but I want to make sure. Also in the that same way could you combine power att combat expertise and vital strike in one round?

I was wondering if these things worked. Does damage from the arcane strike feat stack with the damage from a magic weapon, e.g. +1, +2 etc?

my second question was weather you could use the combat expertise feat in combination with the disarm feats? In other words if I am going to attempt to disarm someone can I sill apply the AC bonus from combat expertise? Thanks for all your helpful responses all.

I was wondering if a rogue milti classed with a spell caster get his sneak attack damage added to spells that are damaging in nature, such as burning hands or magic missile or even fire ball if the spells target is flat footed? Does he add sneak att. dam. to either touch, ranged touched or ranged damaging spells, all or none of these? I'm not sure and would love to get the definitive answer on this. Thanks a lot everyone, and happy holidays, Tony

Me and my party just went to the final battle at thistle top and one of our characters was blinded by the spell from the mage. Our DM said that the fortitude save target roll for her spell was 18. He is a new at pathfinder and after thinking about it I was wondering if he had made a mistake. From what I can tell that would mean she has an int of 22. 10 plus spell level 2 plus relevant modifier which would need to be +6 hence 22. That seems really high for a relatively love level character. Is that correct, does she have a 18 save target on her blindness spell? Tx Tony

Thank you all very much for you input, that definitely helps.

I was wondering if anyone knew of the top of their head if anyone in Sandpoint in Rise of the Runelords can remove magical blindness? Do any of the NPC's have the spell available or even some other means if that exists? Tx
