Background
Thomas Bernard Rose was born aboard the Depths Plumb during a ferocious storm that had the vessel trapped at sea for nearly three days. The Plumb's captain, Agoran Finch, had a soft spot in his heart for Thomas' mother , Serenitia, but little other softness to his character.

Thomas grew up as much on the Plumb as he did in Sasserine's Azure District, aiding the crew as an unofficial mascot they called Trout until he was old enough for real work. By this time, both the Plumb and its captain were ready for retirement.

Thomas' second captain was a kinder man, but poorer, and his ship, the Sea Reaper was often in need of repairs. Thomas' skill with a needle kept the sails in working order, even when he had to climb the masts mid-voyage to keep them that way. Although he had to leave his mother at port, Thomas was happier here, because no one called him Trout. He had some respect from his shipmates, who saw him as an equal rather than a mascot or cabin boy.

His early nickname led him to being sure to introduce himself by his full name to any newcomers, but his shipmates have told him it's too much of a mouthful, especially when something needs to be done, now. They tried calling him Tom, but he would insist Thomas. Bernard. Rose. As a compromise, they have settled on calling him Tombrose, whether he likes it or not. Thomas had begrudgingly accepted the nickname.

Thomas has recently discovered power in his blood; a sorcerous talent born of ancient powers under the sea. He always had minor talents, but these recent discoveries go beyond mere cantrips, producing magical effects of wondrous power. Thomas had decided to leave the relative comfort of the Reaper to better understand these powers and perhaps one day discover their origins.

Appearance
Thomas Bernard Rose is a dark-skinned halfling male of middling size whose green eyes glow with power when he casts a spell. He dresses in light, loose-fitting clothes, mostly reds, browns, and greens, often going unshod, especiially aboard ships.

Personality
Thomas Bernard Rose is an outgoing, often outspoken, young man. He is hard-working and ambitious, inquisitive and adventurous.
