Tokoyo's page

I'd like to play the next one, though I have already completed it in VTT. If others want to play, and if there's not enough room for all interested players to join and the others are fresh to the scenario, happy to give up my spot.

By the way, there are actually 9 Case Files. This is not a spoiler since the Remastered book explicitly spells it out. If you'd run that, I'd be happy to play that too (for no credit).

As the corpse of the Morrowkin flies into a black hole, a cry of outrage emerges from Tokoyo. "You extradimensional @#$! You didn't even have the decency to leave behind a trophy for my cabinet."

As the scene clears and everything returns to normal, Tokoyo raises an eyebrow, in shock that Phaedro is somehow still hungry after all this. A pregnant pause comes over Tokoyo before her usual icy expression shudders. A smile appears on her lips like cracks in a wall before she explodes with laughter.

"Pfft...hahaha! We died once, nearly died twice, and the first thing you can think of is food?" Clutching her belly, she doubles over laughing so hard that her Shore Legs inadvertently wear off. She flops around on the floor as her rancorous chortles continue.

"Kyahahaha...never change, Captain, never change. Sure, we'll get you some food. Fancy a fish dish?" She wiggles her tail mischievously.

"Well, Rui, I do hope you've learnt a valuable lesson. We can be your first customers in your new restaurant - as long as you're able to fill up a ravenously hungry Minotaur and his first mate!"

She turns to Eigennspace and Savannah. "Well, it was great having you all around. I don't speak for the Captain, but you all should consider sticking around. You'd make for great sailors - you, Eigennspace have spells I've never seen before and Savannah's shots are really brutal."

It was interesting, just not something that I enjoyed. Inevitable tpk or constant severe-extreme encounters just brings me back to the bad old days of Abomination Vaults and Malevolence, which is an experience I wish to never repeat again.

Which Paper Mario game had that? Only played Super Paper Mario myself.

Anyways, my thoughts on Slayer are that I like the On the Hunt Gimmick, but I find myself doing a lot less damage than I'd like. Being hastened is neat but it rarely happens and the On the Hunt Quickened feels more restricted compared to just buying my casters Haste scrolls. I've already pointed out how Honed Strike is limited to your Bloodseeking Blade, so when you lose your weapon you lose your class feature which sucks.

Sudden Pounce and Bloodscent are my favourite parts of Slayer, but those seem very poachable through archetype being level 1 feats. I would make Slayer have more flat damage ala Thaumaturge and give it Reactive Strike instead of forcing me to archetype out.

I am extremely underwhelmed by Daredevil (although I stress that this is no fault of the player behind Phaedro). I just find that the class seems like a worse version of Gymnast Swashbuckler or Agile Grace Fighter, from the bulk to the gimmick to lacking Reactive Strike (again). Thankfully, Paizo will make Daredevil a 10hp class in the future...

I would be interested to hear your opinions on the classes.

As Savannah Critically hits the Morrowkin, Tokoyo smirks and goes On the Hunt.

"Now, I'm going to tell you exactly why you deserve what's coming to you, you horrible creature..." Tokoyo starts as she Interacts to swap her Fauchard for the Knife of Trouble Elimination. She then Sudden Pounces the threads, jumping 15 feet to get at the Threads behind the Morrowkin.

Sudden Pounce (Flourish, Relentless, Slayer, 3rd Party) You leap into the fray with abandon. Make a Long Jump. If you land within melee reach of at least one enemy, you can make a melee Strike against that enemy. If you leaped at least 15 feet, the enemy is off-guard to this Strike.

Note to self: You can't use Honed Strike with the Knife as it's not my Bloodseeking Blade. You also can't use On the Hunt to Strike either, which is really upsetting. I should have complained about both during playtest. Also, I'm assuming that the Knife is a runeless weapon (so no -2 penalty for improvised but no item bonuses to hit) but has no traits (so no Agile MAP).

Following in lockstep with the Morrowkin, she swings at its head again.

Not wanting to be within claw distance of the Morrowkin, Tokoyo Strides up and away from the enemy, ending next to Phaedro.

Eigensspace activates Discomforting Whispers and holds up a bowl of casu marzu. He moves close enough to the creature to discomfit it.

Unfortunately, this aura is going to catch Toyoko as well - the way allies are positioned, it's either Phaedro or Toyoko, and Toyoko has a higher Will save. I'm making a calculation that this is going to help us more than hurt - if it's a problem, I'll apologize in advance, and think of something else next round.

It's fine. Tokoyo will probably make her Will save and then reposition to a place where she can abuse her Reach and be out of the Aura.

For a moment, Tokoyo feels her future swallowed up by the Morrowkin. But she did not despair, for her Silver Token banished the doom that surely awaited her.

"Our long awaited meeting has come at last." She says through gritted teeth. The adrenaline of entering combat with her Quarry pushes her to go forward, letting her go On the Hunt and rendering her Quickened.

She Interacts to brandish the bag of Stinky Tofu at the enemy to Sicken it. Afterwards she drops the bag from her hand, letting its contents spill out on the floor with a wet splat. She grips her Fauchard in both hands as she calculates her distance from the enemy.

Tokoyo Strides 5 feet back before Sudden Pouncing forward, clearing tables and chairs alike to land right next to the suddenly Off-Guard and Sickened Morrowkin. She seizes the opportunity and Strikes.

Bloodscent (Relentless, Slayer, 3rd Party) With a glance, you can judge how close your target is to falling. You Recall Knowledge about a single creature you can see. If you succeed, for the next minute you know all conditions that creature has and an approximate percentage of its remaining Hit Points. You can use this ability as a free action if the creature you target is your quarry or is taking persistent bleed damage.

Tokoyo has Monster Lore + 20, Unmistakable Lore (so she can't critically fail with Monster Lore, and Dubious Knowledge so she gets a true and false bit of information on a Failure. We know that Fortitude is either its strongest or weakest Save, so I'd now like to know if it has any Immunities.

1. Get properly equipped with everyone holding food and the silver talisman.
2. Go to the upper deck and wait for the Morrowkin to show up. (Tokoyo is already placed up there)
3. Shove food in his face till he becomes Sickened 3 or 4.
4. Get him bleeding so I can see its hit point percentage.
5. Untether it from time once he reaches 50%.

Tokoyo returns her Captain's glance. She respectfully waits for him to finish before offering her opinion.

"My thanks, Captain, for taking the initiative. However - you sure you want to fight down here? Maybe we should fight upstairs - where there's more space to move around, more props to shove the Morrowkin into and most importantly, food all over the place." The Slayer starts speaking.

"Speaking of food, everyone, take a plate of food if you don't already have one. Make sure you each have one silver talisman;" - She points to the Talisman affixed to her armor - "And one plate of food to Sicken the enemy. I recommend brandishing the smelly tofu at it." Tokoyo turns up her nose at the bag of white, putrid pudding-like substance she has strapped to her belt. She checks every single member of the party to ensure that they're all properly equipped.

"Lastly, I'm taking that Knife. I know to Untether it from Time. Remember, we don't need to take him down to zero - just to half." She sniffs the air. "I remember the scent of its lifeblood. I'll know when the time is right to Slay."

"Sound good, everyone? If we're all in agreement - let's chase the diners away from the upper deck. Don't want them to get hurt."

Tokoyo will start the fight with her 2-handed weapon in a 1-handed grip and the bag of smelly tofu (food) in another hand.

Going to be travelling for a day, not able to post. Feel free to bot me or move Tokoyo in whatever way you want. Don't have much in the idea of a plan, but she'd like to have the Knife.

Okay, so half an hour, a drop of blood and a successful magic tradition check is the last thing we need on this magical shopping list.

Unfortunately Tokoyo has 20 minutes left in the hour, so she can't do this check. Does this mean the only ones capable of doing the check are Eigennspace, Phaedro and Savannah?

If my fellow players (and GM) are alright with it, could I bot Savannah so as to get things moving along?

Otherwise, I suggest Savannah spend the entire hour looking for that Knife.

Tokoyo actually flinches for a second when Phaedro actually returns a serious glare. Now she knows he means business.

"Right. Really sorry for interrupting you, Captain...I would be most grateful if you could have a look at the book, Sir." She requests in a much more respectful tone.

Tokoyo hands the book over to Phaedro and Savannah.

"Captain, Miss Savannah, maybe you two can give this a go. I want to try to learn this ritual - if it gets me closer to slaying the Morrowkin, I must know it. It's in the job description, after all." She gives the others a wry smirk before turning to the ghost.

"Now, Miss Jiudu, you're a captive teacher and I'm a captive audience. Let's learn this manuever.. and make it quick, if there's still time I'm going to find this Knife of Trouble Elimination."

Would Tokoyo be able to hand off the book to the others after she's done and spend the rest of the time learning the ritual?

"Interesting, thank you. I would certainly be interested in learning this ritual to slay the Morrowkin...just after I finish reading this book." Tokoyo pockets the talisman before spending some time reading Solving your Problems. After she's done, she spends the bulk of her remaining time learning the ritual.

"One of you go to the kitchen and look for some food. Maybe if we throw like, plates of jellied eels, at the Morrowkin it will go away."

"That's assuming we beat the thing that keeps stealing our futures, Captain." Tokoyo responds. "Miss, I'll cut to the chase. You are a ghost. We have been repeatedly killed by something that steals our futures. If you know how to defeat it, tell us now before it shows up in maybe 50 minutes from now."

”I believe my colleague would like to visit the kitchen, actually.” he looks at Tokoyo like “remember?” And insists ”Actually. If you would step aside please”

Phaedra prepares to barrel past the domo. His working theory is that removing the food entirely will prevent the Thing from gaining strength. But before proceeding, looks around at his party like “right?!”…

"Psst. Captain, we need his permission to go downstairs, so please don't manhandle the...man." Tokoyo whispers to her sometimes very impetuous boss.

"Yup, we came here before. We enjoyed your food. In fact we even had the chance and your permission to go downstairs! May we have your permission to do so again?"

Doomed 2, 93 hp

Tokyo struggles to hold on after hearing the proclamation of Doom. Still, as steadfast as ever in the face of certain defeat, she Strides up to the humanoid Quarry and uses a Honed Strike against it, striking right at its many-mouthed head.

The excitement of seeing the creature take a major hit gives Tokoyo some major adrenaline. In spite of the Doom she feels in her soul, she's having fun fighting...for now.

On the Hunt Trigger You see your quarry be critically hit, or any creature within 60 feet be reduced to 0 Hit Points. You throw yourself into battle, redoubling your efforts. You gain the quickened condition until the end of your next turn, and you can use the extra action only to Step, Stride, or use an action with the relentless trait. With Ever Vigilant, she always has a reaction to go On the Hunt.

"If it bleeds, we must be able to kill it...but how?" Tokoyo wonders out loud as she smells its freshly spilled blood.

Recall Knowledge as a Free Action using Bloodscent. She wants to know a Weakness and she gets to know the approximate percentage of hit points this creature has left. She gains a +2 Circumstance bonus to Survival checks to Track it, Monster Lore and Society checks to RK on it.She has Dubious Knowledge and Unmistakable Lore.

Tokoyo does her best to search for a book, but the wound in her side hurts too much and distracts her.

"Why...why would a restauranter also be a user of ritual magic? Last time I checked, you didn't need magic to cook good food." Tokoyo grumbles, hand still clutched at her side.

"Well, that's unfortunate. We'll need to explain and somehow convince Mr Rui that his chefs were assassins." She looks at the stab wound on her side and winces. "Anyone have any fast way to heal? Otherwise, we will have to use up precious time for wound treating." Tokoyo asks the others.

Pointing at the office, she says; "That's probably the quickest location to check out - unless any one of you are good at picking or busting locks open."

"So, you lot know nothing, attacked us for no reason and wasted our time." Tokoyo sighs. "Captain, leave these fools to their fate and we can go elsewhere." She turns to the others. "Anything else useful in this room?"

Tokoyo strides up to the last guy and starts kicking him until he's down.

"Sorry about this, but we've got 50 minutes and we need your information."

Passing on the RS since it's a bit late to roll it after Green took his turn. Also because I can't really non-lethally hit someone with a Bleeding weapon. But I will be pre-rolling those like in Curtain Call.

"Well done, Captain! You seem to be handling the poison fine. Shall we take these guys in alive?" She asks the Minotaur.

Playing into the mistaken assumption that they are law enforcement, Tokoyo yells to Green; "You had better stay down if you know what's good for you. We've got bad cops and we've got personnel who aren't cops!" She neglects to mention that the last category includes all of them. Turning to Purple - stuck within Phædro's meaty hands - she says "Especially you!" before hitting him with a Honed Strike into a Regular Strike.

Tokoyo is unable to react to Green Kuen's application of Poison, but the danger of poison worries her. Disengaging from her confrontation with Purple Fa, she runs out of the kitchen but suddenly turns on her heels and runs back in before leaping towards Green Kuen. Tokoyo stands up - a social faux pa, but she could care less about the meal when her life and others are in imminent danger.

"We're skipping the meal. And, Captain, I recommend we head straight down." She draws her weapon, clearly on edge.

"No, but when am I ever ready to deal with nonsense?" Tokoyo whispers back before turning to the owner. "Yes, we are looking for a good meal. I am a native to Tian Xia, so I know what authentic cuisine tastes like. I hope you won't disappoint." She stares grimly into Rui's eyes.

It sounds like we are expected to die - happy to be automated along if that's what the plot entails and the GM would have informed us of this.
