Although Tockit is not personally skilled with forgery and the fiddly work of papers and governments, she watches curiously as Magnus works on the documents. When he's done, she looks it over carefully, figuring she could at least check for obvious misspellings or columns out of alignment. Not that her fellow gnome would ever make such a mistake, but just to be sure...

When Yuleg pleads with them to help his daughter, her heartstrings are tugged. She pulls out her healer's toolkit and starts laying out the supplies to see what's in there. "I've learned to fix up basic wounds, but I don't know much about disease, I'm afraid. Is there any one of us who could help out this child?" She looks around the group of Pathfinders. "We could certainly use a good night's rest too, but I'm worried that we don't have much time in this city..."
She can provide the toolkit but is not trained in Medicine, except for Natural Medicine which doesn't cover disease.

Tockit does love a good story, and she gets fully invested in Modra's recounting of adventure as a Pathfinder. Her eyes get wider and wider as it goes on. When he gets to the part about his eyebrows getting singed off she gasps and claps her hand over her own eyebrows as if they were in danger too. She lets out a low whistle at the conclusion. "Good thing you and the others were able to protect them! I hope I can have companions as sturdy as you by my side if anything like that happens to me!"
She blinks slowly and realizes that she's still in the middle of a mission, then laughs. "Oh yeah, I do have someone as sturdy as you with me! Right now!" She pinches her nose and gets ready to move out, adding, "You think the Rockfish Inn has somewhere we could all take a bath tonight?"

Tockit is relieved to come across a young man who seems likely to be the one they're looking for, but she can't help but watch anxiously as he and their party try to dance around the topic at hand. Though she enjoys playing a part of someone she's not, she is really quite unskilled at lying. At least we don't actually have to be untruthful here, as long as this guy is who we think he is, she decides.
When Modra comes out with the mysterious passphrase the smuggler man had recommended, she has to physically stop herself from slapping a hand to her forehead. Of course, how could I have forgotten already?! "Yes, the slippers, he's really worried about them!" she also blurts out, and then cautiously looks around to make sure they're alone before adding in a whisper, "We're here to help."
She scrutinizes his face to check if he reacts like someone who's just received and understood a coded message or an enemy who has intercepted the whole thing somehow.

I'm also still trying to figure out the mechanics of exploration with 2nd edition, so I'd be interested to hear other peoples' thoughts too. Is it better to have people double up on important checks or have a broader spread with people doing different things? I'm guessing there's no "wrong" choice, especially if your character is skilled in multiple ways like that. I had Tockit switch to searching because it seems like it makes sense for the situation more than any mechanical concern (though it does help that she's quite good at perception).

Tockit looks at the sewers stretching on and on with some dismay. "These things are huge! Searching it could take longer than I thought. Best get down to it quickly. I'm not sure if we'll make it out of here without getting a bit dirty." She eyes Modra, thinking about his mother's advice. "I wonder if the same rule goes for dirty gnomes," she speculates with a grimace at the unpleasant smells drifting from the sewers toward her sensitive nose. But they're here for an important task, so she shrugs and turns her attention to scouring the place for any useful details that might lead them to Flitch.
Switching to Search for exploration. Perception +7 (expert)

Tockit perks up with excitement when the group discovers a secret code, but she does not have Mangus's focus and quickly loses interest while they puzzle away. However she is certainly interested when they crack the code and find a lead for where to go next.
She glances outside to see the sun dropping all too quickly in the sky. "So we should go look in the sewers right now, yes? As we said before it's important to find Flitch if we're to rescue all the others. There's not much time before curfew but I would really like to locate one more of our targets before the day ends."
Thank you, that chart helps a lot to keep track of what we're doing.

"We do need to get into this place, one way or another," Tockit agrees. "Maybe someone should stand guard to watch for anybody watching us? And keep the weapons sheathed, right." She adds the last sentence as a reminder to herself, trying to remember the local laws.
The gnome takes a few minutes to look around for tracks or other signs of people or creatures coming and going recently.

Apologies (in advance) for the delay, but I am travelling today and don't have time to leave more than this note at the moment. It may be another day or two before I can fully catch up. You can assume I'll go with whatever plan the group decides.

As they approach the city, Tockit takes some time to practice a disguise. She doesn't try to completely change her appearance - a gnome is a gnome after all - but aims for someone a little more subdued, a little less attention-grabbing, and respectable enough for a generic merchant. She tries lightening the color of her hair a bit to imply that her life has not been all that exciting and the Bleaching is taking hold. Even if these strange out-of-touch people wouldn't know what that means, Tockit will know.
Satisfied for now that she can carry out this role, she disembarks with the others and hands over her identity papers when asked, with a bored look as if she has done this many times.
If it happens that all is well:
"I've no objections to going to the Inn first. That would be a reasonable thing to do as a newcomer to the city anyway. Seems like a good way to test the waters."

Tockit listens to the others share what they know about their destination and quietly hums in thought. "We're going to quite an interesting place, aren't we? Hard to imagine being in the wrong time like that. Let's hope it helps us slip through the cracks." She trots along following Redmond to meet the quartermaster.
I'll take a minor healing potion for provisions, and will also buy a disguise kit.

When they hear the instructions about keeping a low profile, Tockit covers her mouth with one hand to prove that she does know how to keep quiet. She nods in agreement with Modra's confession about being none too skilled in deception. "I'm decent at acting like someone I'm not, but the real key is to tell the truth about anything you don't need to lie about. Keeping your own story straight can sometimes be the hardest part. Speaking of which..."
She turns to Valais and looks at the fake identity papers they received. "Is there a particular type of merchants we're meant to be? Or is that up to our imagination? Just want to get all on the same page before anybody asks pointed questions."
Hearing Guaril's advice about bribes and up-front payments she adds in, "In that case maybe we should start with trying to find Mr. Themolin, who's supposed to have cash to spare. Though of course not needing to pay any bribes would be the best case."

While they are aboard the Merry Mayfly, a gnome with bright blue hair and faintly green skin scampers here and there, curiously watching what every one of the sailors is doing. She frequently pauses what she is doing to sniff the air and then immediately returns to motion, resembling a hunting dog that is still an energetic puppy. As she crosses paths with every Pathfinder in the group she introduces herself proudly, possibly more than once if she has lost track: "Tockit's what they call me!"
Tockit settles down when they gather below deck on the Lightbringer for the briefing. She listens with deep respect to the representative from the Radiant Oath, but her eyes also sparkle with excitement. "I've never worked with a smuggler before, how invigorating!"
When the list gets passed to her, she reads it somberly. "Peoples' lives depend on us remembering their names, oh dear! Well, I know one way to memorize what really matters."
She starts humming and then comes up with a quick melody to help her remember the list of clients.
🎵
Flitch wears slippers on Envy Row East,
Themolin has the coin to be released.
Yuleg and daughter from Rockfish Inn flee,
Daffrid wants out with her family three.
Is Garrla the bait at the Emerald house?
Bring them all safely to Guaril the louse.
🎵
She gives the smuggler man a side-eye glance and adds, "No offense. I needed something that rhymed, you see."

Hello! I'm sort-of new (I've played PFS before but not since we were in 1st edition). I signed up on RPG Chronicles. Have all the players who had reserved places already joined?
