Hi guys and gals,

I'm looking at having the party encounter a Kijimuna. which has "kidnapped" some kids(actually just convinced them to join a practical joke on their parents)

The party is trying to find the missing kids. I'm trying to leave hints that there's a Kijimuna around. Piles of fish scattered around etc.

If it used it's "Steal Fire" on a campfire or torch, would it be obvious that something unnatural happened to the campfire? I.e if the PCs were investigating some time later and come across the campfire, would it look obvious that it was tampered with? using some knowledge / perception/ survival rolls?
I can't really find much on "steal fire" aside from the description:

As a standard action, a kijimuna can call out to a non-magical fire within 30 feet equivalent in size to the flames of a burning torch. Doing so causes the flame to become a light similar to that created by a dancing lights spell, under the control of the kijimuna. An attended object can make a DC 13 Reflex saving throw to avoid this effect.

Unlike a dancing lights spell, a kijimuna’s steal fire ability can cause a stolen fire to strike a creature, either ringing the target in light as per the spell faerie fire for 5 minutes, or dealing 2d6 points of fire damage (DC 13 Reflex, half). Both save DCs are Charisma-based. A lantern, candle, torch, or similar item that has its flame stolen cannot be relit by any means for 24 hours.

obviously, if they try and light the fire, it wouldn't work, but I can't guarantee they'll try it :)

Hi Everyone,

My first time as a GM is coming up, and I was looking at starting it off with some fun carnival games, but I'm not 100% sure on how to properly balance the DCs, entry fees and prizes. Thematically, higher entry fees would turn away NPC peasants who would barely make silvers, let alone golds and health potions / adventuring gear wouldn't be that great for them to win, as they're not out adventuring.
Should I stick mundane items and have it as more of a RP event, or will it be better to just tailor prizes to the PCs?

What do people think is a good approach?

Characters will be Level 1, I'll preroll the NPC results to save time
