Complications
Disability: No physical form: Though somewhat manageable for Simon the fact remains that he has no physical body, and as a result has no tactile sense. I forsee this causing him some distress when he manages to find his granddaughter and try to settle into a 'normal' life once more.
Flashbacks: WWII: Though proud of his service, and far beyond the reach of such mortal concerns of physical pain and mortality, the war still made a big impression on his psyche. If subjected to sufficient stress, or 'phsycial' pain he may return to that bloody time in his life.
Hatred: Commies: Having spent half his life investigating and reporting on the cold war and related conflicts Simon developed a strong 'dislike' of the reds. Having died in the middle of the war he has lost none of that... well lets be honest, racism against the Russians and at the least distrusts anyone he knows comes from there.
Motivation: Justice/Patriotism: Simon was proud to serve for his country, and even after he left the service at the end of the war he remained a passionate patriot as he moved into journalism as a frontline reporter.
Now he finds himself in a very different world than the one in which he lived, but also in a position to make a direct contribution to cleaning it up and making it a better place. Needless to say he is not going to pass up this opportunity.
