Thorgrim Stormbrow, like most dwarves, is short and stout. Though tall for most dwarves and not nearly as rotund as others, Thorgrim possesses the bushy black eyebrows for which his family is named. His beard, a nice mousy brown, is kept short and tidy despite the suggestions of his elders to grow a proper belt length beard - Thorgrim never forgot the experience of having an orc grab his beard in an attempt lop his head off and the scar he bears on his chest to this day reminds him of the danger of letting things get on too long. His thick curly hair, a match to his mousy brown beard, is also kept short and tidy for while dwarves are reknowned for being orderly creatures in habit, Thorgrim has applied that same manner to appearance and being as well. He is very neat and tidy, clothes and equipment always in order and he always does his best to speak clearly and distinctly.
Thorgrim was born the eighth son of the eighth oldest clan and was the eighth male in his family to bear his name. When he was boy and this occurred to him he sought guidance and direction from his family as to what this meant. There were many different and sometimes conflicting theories as to what this imported but the hubbub and noise that ensued upon his asking impressed upon him the seriousness of his situation. Despite the best efforts of his father to quiet his young sons fears with a smile and a "That's nice son", Thorgrim was gripped with the realization that he might have a lot to live up to. Taking his new found self-importance in hand he left the hubbub and noise of his family to seek out further information on the nature of the relatives and ancestors he had to live up to. He spent the next several years reading and researching his family line and during this time discovered a great sense of relief. Thorgrim discovered that although there were many successful and respected individuals amongst his family line, none of them broached the level of heroics and fame that fourth, first, and seventh oldest families achieved. Fully confident that he could be successful at whatever he did, and thus live up to his family name, Thorgrim felt much relieved and happy.
During his time spent studying and researching his family though, Thorgrim found that there was one ancestor for whom there was no information. While the names and exploits of his ancestors were recorded there were several for whom little information existed. A few of them were explorers or adventurers so what little was written he felt was likely all there was to tell but one ancestor in particular stuck out: Gisli Stormbrow. Looking through the records the only information he could find was a name and birth date. Nothing else. Thorgrim pondered the meaning of this for many years as he grew, trained, and eventually became a member of the Bronzeshields, a dwarven military unit who were skilled with axe and shield, just as every eighth son did.
Thorgrim was content to spend the rest of his life as a Bronzeshield until the day he found an old diary in the back of a bookshelf in his great aunt's sitting room (she was somewhat eccentric because she had never learned to read and yet spent her life collecting books to populate the shelves in her sitting room). While perusing through the diary he found mention of a uncle several generations back named Gisli Stormbrow who had gone off to some enclave in a remote region of the world. Excited by the prospect of finally having more information on the one mystery in his family, Thorgrim made the decision to quit the Bronzeshields and take off on an expedition to solve the mystery of who this long lost uncle was.
In the years since his departure Thorgrim has been able to piece together that the remote location described in the diary could likely be the Darkmoon Vale. Strapping on his backpack and axe with hopes of finally finding the story behind his long lost ancestor Thorgrim headed towards the largest town in the Darkmoon Vale: Falcon's Hollow.
