Thoma was orphaned at a very young age, when his family was killed during a goblin raid on their merchant train. He was the lone survivor, inexplicably escaping harm. He was rescued by a woodsman named Paehz, who would later become his mentor. Paehz visited Toma in the orphanage where he was raised, and taught him how to hunt and track.
After leaving the orphanage, Toma served as a scout in the army, and later as a sword-for-hire. Then one day, he received terrible news that the matron of the orphanage where he was raised had been accused of murder. He travels back now, to find evidence to clear her name.
