Thindar Darkblood is a half-orc born to a half-orc father and a human mother, though his bloodline is still strong in him. Despite this, Thindar, to any that don't know his father, appears to be completely human, though his intense stare and raised voice causes concern among those that have seen him agitated.
Thindar's father and mother loved one another, and his father worked as a mercenary, leaving on campaigns for months at a time. Neither Thindar nor his mother knew any details of his father's campaigns, but the half-orc would come home with enough gold to make his family comfortable, if not wealthy, for the next year.
Thindar's mother lived on the edge of town, and most of the townsfolk were at least courteous towards her, if they felt she was a bit eccentric. Thindar's father was rarely home long enough to interact with the other townsfolk.
Eventually, Thindar's father took longer and longer to return home. Eventually it became apparent that something was wrong, as it had been well over a year since his father's last visit. Thindar's mother never told her son that his father had died, but one night Thindar walked in on his mother in quiet prayer to Pharasma, and upon meeting her gaze, the two broke down into tears and never spoke of the event again, Thindar knowing what the prayer meant.
While Thindar did not overly favor his father in looks, some of the children in town found out about his parentage, and created the moniker of "Darkblood" for the young lad. Thindar was saddened by this, but remembering some of the few words his father had spoken to him "never fight until its time," he accepted the jibes stoically.
Eventually, with typical Nirmathas individuality and idealism, Thindar decided that he would prove the nobility that those with "Darkblood" could exhibit, spurred on by the negative example provided by Grimscar. Most people either assumed Thindar to be like Grimscar, or laughed at the young man's crusade, and even at times questioned that his father was actually his sire . . . at least until a foul mood would come upon Thindar.
Thindar had a difficult time finding his niche, until he managed to apprentice himself to the stoic ranger Arnama. The ranger was often scattershot in her lesson, and quick to grow frustrated, but never did she look down on Thindar or mention his "Darkblood" in any manner. Thindar actually took the frustrations of his mentor as acceptance, in its own way, and took to simply watching and emulating her, rather than prompting her for explanations.
Thindar is friendly and warm with his friends, but his moments of excitement or agitation can frighten those around him due to his loud, explosive manner.
