Thanks for the quick reply. I was hoping for the case, but I can see the distinction, kinda bummed on that.

If you were attacking with a thrown weapon using the Gloves of Arcane Striking & had the Alchemist's Throw Anything feature, does the damage from the glove's second option deal extra INT based damage?

For example, let's say an attacker throws a shuriken using Arcane strike, and hits, dealing damage to the target, and arcane strike damage to the target and all enemies adjacent to that target. Does that qualify for splash damage for the purpose of Throw Anything?

Sorry, I checked that post prior, and checked the FAQ for any mention of Kensai but no FAQ answer. I feel like people forgot the thread existed after it derailed.

I'm not used to using this website as an actual member (Or even as a guest just looking for information), but if there's an FAQ post (not a thread looking for an FAQ post, but those also help) please direct me to where I can find answers. Thank you.

Question: "Could we get clarification on the Kensai's 'chosen weapon' and whether we can pick simple, unarmed, or natural weapons instead of Martial or Exotic Weapons?"

==========================================
I can't find 15 or more posts. It's been discussed at length within the few threads containing it, but few people actually bring this up outside the threads about it already. Every time there's a post about Kensai though, people posting and people replying seem to have very little idea of what goes on. People suggest "Use dagger instead of chakram, can't use ranged weapons" When Dagger itself is a simple weapon, and other examples. I'll try to gather as many threads though where the Chosen Weapon comes into question, though.

I'd like to ask that this thread be free from arguing over how Kensai or anything else works, so that it doesn't derail and get locked. Thank you.

I would like to request that a topic about this be placed on the FAQ. I've seen multiple threads but it still doesn't clear the ambiguous text on the kensai's page and I haven't seen any confirmation from the FAQ to know.

My question is, if a Weapon Master (Fighter) can pick any weapon, regardless of proficiency or not, and a Bladebound Magus can pick any type of blackblade (So long as it meets the weapon requirements) it can be Simple, Martial, or Exotic, regardless of proficiency, why don't we get any clarification on what limitations the Kensai has with weapons he can and cannot pick? Considering also that Weapon Master can pick anything, and the reasonable assumption that the two archetypes are very similar (With the exception that Kensai must pick melee weapons, which even itself is very vague) that a Kensai could pick a simple weapon as his chosen weapon.

The only thing we have to go on is vague text that doesn't explicitly say for or against this case, and find correlation between two places we shouldn't have to. Even if a kensai couldn't pick a simple weapon, it'd provide less argument and issue if it was simply worded "When becoming a Kensai, pick a single martial or exotic melee weapon. In addition to all simple weapons, you gain proficiency with this weapon, and it becomes your 'Chosen Weapon' for the purpose of your abilities that affect it."
