Well I just put back on my DM hat after about two years now... I'm usually the type the brings more focus to the roleplay versus game mechanics. I like to keep races/classes relatively simple as to, again, bring that focus to the RP. With that in mind here are some things that I've had my players do:

- I took them back five years ago to the time of Jervis Stott a.k.a. the "Chopper." The party has entered sandpoint and discovered that there is a murderer lurking about. I'll go into more details about this in a bit, but basically the party will think that goblins are the cause for the murders. When the PCs go hunting for the Seven Tooth goblin tribe, they will encounter Koruvus and (hopefully they don't kill him!) although he is an up and coming goblin hero, he has no reason to kill the PCs at the moment (hopefully because they came well prepared and all that other fun stuff). Koruvus' allibi is that he's been exploring a new secret hideout (foreshadowing) and that he has been no where near town. The PCs will probably threaten his life and tell him to keep his flunkies away from Area6 and they'll had back into town to tell the Sheriff that it was not the goblins. From this point on, with minor tweaks, I'll have the "Chopper" be caught and killed/captured as written (with PC interaction) by the town/PC group. Once "Chopper" is dead the town will celebrate and the next day the church will go up in flames with the townspeople thinking that Nualia was in that fire as well.

- Right now one of my PCs is from Magnimar and her father was killed by "Chopper" to get her storyline intertwined with Sandpoints. The cleric of the group is a pyro and will probably be a suspect the burning down of the church (Father Tobyn already had to warn him once). Anyhoo, as soon as the church gets burnt to the ground the PCs will do whatever they will for the next five years and will return to Sandpoint for the festival.

Let me know what you think about this 5-yr foreshadowing event!

My friends and i are about to start an evil campaign based in Ravenloft. I am playing the group face and just discovered the wonderful prestige class Thrall of Malcanthet from Dragon 353. I was planning out my characters progression and came up with this...

1-5 Bard
6-15 Thrall

my question is for the last 5 levels should i got back to bard and get more spells or go Enthralling Dancer(complete scoundrel) and get some cool abilities. i know this isnt the best build for pure damage but my party members have that covered with a red half dragon fighter, an orc rogue(who uses a greatsword) and a drow cleric of Lolth, im human by the way. any and all thoughts would be appreciated, and if you know of some other class that would work please say so.

note: i am intersted in a maximum of 3 classes

Hrm... currently I am in that specific build progession in the campaign that I'm a player in, and in the same dilemma. The way I have my character built thus far is not necessarily for combat but moreso for manipulation. In fact, I try to stay entirely out of phsyical combat and only playing my flut when I get bored (a lil rp flavor there). Being a Thrall of Malconthet, I've done some reading in the same mag that the PrC debuted in but also the fiendish codex. From there I had decided to build the character as a Radiant Sister (15th LvL Bard Succubi) as much as possible. I have a glove of storing that hides a whip within. I couldn't afford the second glove of storing (as the Radiant Sisters each have two), but I'm trying to work it from there.

Now that I have revealed that I'm trying to stay as much as a Radiant Sister, would I just pickup the Bard lvls as they had left off? I'm also not sure about how that would progress being that the Thrall PrC does pickup on the spell progressions (only losing three lvls of such). I love being a slight hassle to the DM, but I also enjoy a great RP character. Right now I'm in the Savage Tide adventure (and if I remember right, I'm in the Underdark or something of the sort), so if that tidbit of info helps, PLEASE HELP!

Many thanks,

I think that it would be a bit dicey to have the Runelord of Lust be male anyway. Imagine some greasy horrible man casting charm person on his targets... Too close to heavy emotional subjects like rape. I think that the potential overtones might be defused a bit by have Lust be a woman, even if lust is represented as strong desire for a thing, as opposed to sexual lust.

I can definitely agree that rape would be a touchy subject but then again it wouldn't really be a Runelord of Lust it would most likey be some poor old fool who has become afflicted with his own lust. I imagine that the RoL would be someone who is a master of the art who doesn't need to rape anyone in any fashion to get what they want out of them. Primarily, they are so skilled with deceit and manipulation that they would get their victim(s) to go along with whatever totally voluntarily.

On another note (and sort of what you were going along with, Eltanin), would be that the Runelord of Lust is not necessarily a physical being but something "else." And this "else" afflicts individuals who become worthy as a harbinger of lust and that "else" stays with that physical shell as long as it lives or until another worthy victim shows face.

I'm not sure how much sense that made, but my two cents they were.

Oh well. I can hope for an original treatment. But I'm already seeing a redhead in a belly shirt, ankle tatoos and an anime headdress. Vaalinrylialala sounds like a good name.

Tell you quite honestly... I'd prefer a blonde IMHO.
