Maybe. I notice you've dodged the question. But you didn't correct me, about any of it. She shakes her head violently. Sorry, Power does that sometimes. and as you'll be team-adjacent, call me Alexandra in private. The Silver Shadow is SO 1940's. and my power id hype-intuition, with some weird physical effects. she says
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Wavy line of "Later that night".~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When Kay gets home, Alexandra is already in his bedroom, a pot of hot green tea and two cups beside her. So, we've been doing this a month now, huh. Probably should talk about that. she says
Alexandra watches the other teammates drift away. Again. she wished they'd stick around. whatever.
she goes out of the police, but stops on her way there, to give a bit of a statement to the Gathered Media. I think we all know the real heroes here, however. The SCA, Who's timely arrival She gestured, an exaggerated movement to match the sarcasm dripping from her, to the SCA Vehicles, currently pulling up, after even the regular police Served to protect us all, and defuse this crisis, before significant property damage, or harm to bystanders were reached. We are doing quite well without us junior heroes. After all, without them, it would have just been a... oh, ten minute unopposed rampage aided by stolen magical artifacts. don't know why we ever allowed those kids to be heroes in the first place.
She also takes the time to flip the bird to the agents climbing out of their vans in riot gear as she goes to debrief Quinlan.
and probably receives a f*@%ing death glare from Whip
Beside Wingblade, there is a figure suddenly, with a weapon trained on Bone daddy. The silver shadow had snuck up on the chaos. her hand rests on wingblades arm, gingerly.
Wingblade, you are coming down off an unknown cocktail of potent drugs. I don't think you're in a state to decide if a villain deserves to die she says, in a level, calm, and authoritative voice, doing her best Whipporwhil impression.
I've followed your story long enough to know you aren't a killer. are you gonna let this a###~!~ be the guy that changes that? She asks her.
either C&S, or Provoke: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 5) = 9
Alexandra was mentally going through counteragents for common mind-control poisons. The Hacker kid was doing well.
Good job... We need to get you a codename. but I love the dinosaurs. she says
but shayera was... s&@#, that needed dealing with. it meant Bone-daddy had another minion, which they needed the same way she needed surprise trepanning, and it meant he had a convenient shield, if she tried anything...
or, maybe Bran wasn't as fond of Shayera as she had thought... well, she was a regenerator, but, wow!
whatever, gave her an opening. she pulled the pin from a concussive explosive, and tossed it up to him, shouting Hey, Bonehead!
Directly engage: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 2) = 7
Gonna take something from him: His spot atop the monster!
Alexandra arrives from the side, after having dragged some civilians out of the way. she watched Wingblade tear her way free of a kinda-there T-Rex, and she watched her save that idiot from falling to great injury... wait a minute, he was here!
but there was a lot going on. she needed to sentre herself. centre everyone fighting, if she could.
assess: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (1, 4) + 2 = 7
Who is vulnerable to me: probably the necromancer using the interactive gravity exhibit
Alexandra takes shots as he falls,a few of them probably going closer to Wingblade and Kilt that is comfortable. Wingblade would recover pretty quickly, regenerators always did.
using team selfishly. Upping Danger, lowering Freak. won't help my next roll, but tired of having a -1
Alexandra waits or anyone else ont he Comms... She isn't immediately successful. Maybe they weren't active yet. Maybe they just didn't want to talk.
then she saw someone holding Kaoru at Taser-point. D!~%$$!, you're gonna hold the student, rather than focus on the... whatever, no time.
Really sorry, but Kinda need him. the Silver shadow says, popping a dart into the guard's neck.
Defend Kaoru: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (4, 5) + 3 = 12
Adding a team to the pool
Not sure what you were doing, but I feel like you should keep doing it! She says 555-8943. keep me posted. she says, holding up her phone, on the off chance Kaoru didn't catch her meaning
Okay, so giving up on the facade that we aren't all students at Halcyon High, you two are already on sight and powered up, right? or do you need support for a change? Alexandra says into the communicator. And, tell me someone already pointed our resident flying Brick at the enemy.
American Dream isn't... the worst super name I've ever heard. Kanga Ronnie and all that. but... well, I'm a cynic. but you do you, man. Can't be worse than Dadamerican BTW is that dad-American, or dada-merican, as in the obnoxious art movement?
Thanks or the help today. But get yourself a costume, and try to get a permit or something. the SCA are a perpetual thorn in the side of justice in this city. She tells him And, seeing as you're from Brooklyn, you'll like the pizza place two blocks that way better than this place. Yes, it does serve proper Chicago style pizza
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~After Herman leaves, and She changes back~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
Sorry to treat you like a waitor She says But, i really don't need him know my identity, and if he stuck around to check out the car, he might have put 2 and 2 together. needed to stop him thinking about school. She sipped the coffee.
So, you're officially a Civie in the know. I hope that doesn't make me, like, scary or anything. Still just me, I just happen to fight villains in my spare time. You have any questions?
Labels: Danger: 0 Freak: -1 Savior: 2 Superior: 1 Mundane: 2 | Conditions: Insecure, Hopeless |Potential 1/5
That was Kanga Ronnie. Small time crook, probably just got out of the Halcyon Gifted Detention Centre. He's not a great planner, but he's slippery. you Probably broke some ribs there, so he'll go to ground, try to find an underground doc. Maybe later I'll hit up some informants, try to nab him. You as invulnerable as your mom, or just really good at walking it off? should I be giving you medical treatment?
As Kaoru confirms they are unharmed, she walks over to him Glad to hear it. Could you go in the diner, grab me a coffee, two creams, 4 sugars. She asks, handing Kaoru a $5 bill I need to debrief with... Do you have a Hero name? She asks Herman.
Labels: Danger: 0 Freak: -1 Savior: 2 Superior: 1 Mundane: 2 | Conditions: Insecure, Hopeless |Potential 1/5
Alexandra sighs as she watches the Aussie disappear. no way to keep up with him once he was rabbiting. She turns to the jump in... Herman.
Okay, you did okay. Sacrificing your surprise was kinda... less than ideal, and my advice is, unless you've got laser vision like your mom, have a ranged weapon for stuff like that. also, No one needs to get hurt is what you say during a standoff, where no one is moving and everyone is sizing each other up, not while we are actively hurting each other.. She says
She moves toward Kaoru Okay, Alley kid she gives Kaoru a "play along" wink you get hurt? Any bleeding, broken bones?
Labels: Danger: 0 Freak: -1 Savior: 2 Superior: 1 Mundane: 2 | Conditions: Insecure, Hopeless |Potential 1/5
The silver shadows sees what he is doing. Ronnie knows he can;t win against Herman... He wants to take a hostage!
A metal canister goes flying over Ronnie's head. He slows slightly, not enough. it it had been a fragmentation Grenade, Ronnie would have been badly hurt. instead, it was a flashbang, and he was just dirorients and blind, for a little while.
Directly engage: 2d6 - 1 ⇒ (6, 5) - 1 = 10
resist or avoid. Impress, Surprise, or frighten
Labels: Danger: 0 Freak: -1 Savior: 2 Superior: 1 Mundane: 2 | Conditions: Insecure, Hopeless |Potential 1/5
Just to clarify, You're yelling at him cause the kick-based super villain kicked you? or becasue he, the guy who's been to more jails than you have schools, didn't care to listen to some wannabe social worker try to help him MID ROBBERY! She says
She takes another shot at him, to prevent him from closing with Herman again, and continues You have the power to punch hard, and take a punch. Both of those are only good in a fight. Do you have a sociology degree? or expirience in human services? NO, then do your job,a nd stop the rampaging supervillain, and let the people who do have those handle it afterward!

Alexandra was readying to dive to the side, and reload her crossbow, when someone came running in... shouting Oh, Christ on the crapper, "no one needs to get hurt? How can you be a superhero's kid, and be this naive. Guess it's easy when you're invulnerable.
Hey, Go's kid. Welcome to Halcyon. Quick rundown: That is small time crook and d-list Supervillain Kanga Ronnie, real name Ronald Abbott. She backs up a bit, leaving Ronnie and Herman in close quarters. Herman could probably take it, and ti would be a lesson if he got hit. words like "No one needs to get hurt" are standoff words, not Brawl words.
and I caught Kangaroo Jack here mid Robbery, so I'm taking him in she finishes, taking the momentary distraction to reload.

Gonna run with it. A well placed bolt could down him. after all, he probably already has a few things in his system, and he's not supernaturally resilient.
As Kanga exits the building, carrying an honest to god sack of things he thought he could hawk for easy cash. Dear lord, I've walked into a cartoon.
She lines up her shot, right to the neck. Easy peasy, subcutaneous inject-y. G'day Roonie! She says as she fires
Directly engage Kanga: 2d6 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (3, 3) - 1 + 1 = 6

Alexis AKA Mercy wrote: Though she is also probably staying close to the Halcyon High School for a couple of reasons - first, because she can root through the trash for clothes that fit after washing. Second, because she might sneak in to use the showers or raid the cafeteria after hours. Perhaps one of the others spots her one time in the middle of a spoonful of taco meat, before she runs off as fast as she can. We open on the Girls locker room, well past closing. one of the showers is operating regardless. as the showering girl exits, she finds a smiling girl in a duster and hat
the Showering girl gives some variant on "Who the hell are you? What the f%*& are you doing here?"
Well, yesterday, I spotted the Cam good ol' Jessie placed up in there. took it down, but decided to see if there was any truth to the rumors about Alana and Kaitlyn. Imagine my surprise when I saw a girl coming in here every few days, to shower at 3 am.

At the risk of asking a stupid question, how long has that speadsheet of characters existed? it looks new, but I might be oblivious.
Hey guys, I'm the last of the confirmed returning players (I believe) though we hopefully will have 1-2 others returning.
I think Apex proved Alexandra kinda bounces well off people who are similar, so American Dream is fine by me.
Also, just going to say, as someone who made the archive dive like 6 months ago, it is worth it.

Is there anything I can roll to start putting this together? because, while my character might be able to make inferences... I'm super hesitant to, because I know mysteries are more delicate than most plots. But basically, she is trying to detirmine if these are from another universe and shifted over, psychic projections, magic, mutants (that one is pretty well ruled out) or whatever other phenomena I haven't thought of, and is tallying up "the usual suspects (I.E> what she did with Haxor)

the shadow falls upon a group of Goblins menacing a few civilians. The first goblin gets a tranquilizer dart, and a second gets landed on. the third one gets a knife in its gut, and knocked sprawling with a kick.
Defend civilians: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (2, 3) + 2 = 7 escalating, by using a knife/lethal force
then it was time to get to work. see what happens are one is killed, examine the others. check pulse, breathing, external stuff first, hope that gives the answer, hope she doesn't need to vivisect something for answers...

Black gods of hell... might not be the kids, but something is sending the city into a nerd-themed Hell.
Her phone is out before she realizes why she's doing it, and as her conscious mind caught up to her subconscious, she dialed in the number for detective Quinlan
As it rings, she gives a curt answer to the team Don't think so... looks more like one of those lame flash games... Gotta be some overlord type thing going on here.
As Quinlan Picks up, she switches over to that conversation. Hey, Susy Q, To big questions. 1 is where those kids are. the other is if the Police happen to know the whereabouts of the villain Haxor, or at least have leads thereupon.

Sorry. I'm in the habit of getting cute with basic move names. I'll knock it off.
The kids are not here they were last night. And I found the cards they were using, not a cursed deck... I think one of these kids is a mage or whatever. She says
I'll try to find them, but last time, they were out of phase. So, I might need Thor-girl, Amulet/talisman/Jusker, or Bran to come help me out once I get their location. I can't do magic.

She clambers up the wall again, looking for the boys from earlier, She'd done research on magical/psychic phenomena, this time, she might be able to work out what was going on.
I'm gonna check on those kids, betcha this is another game with that cursed deck or whatever... Alexandra says into the comms Any information is good... I'll see what I can do from this end, and keep you all updated.

Before the Jusker pickup
Okay, so, If I remember the stakes, You owe me a secret. A big part of me wants to lord this over you. But f~*# that, We're already at each other's throats. So, tell me. what is your problem with me.
She stops him before he can make a smartass comment. This began before you and I had exchanged many words. I called you Ninja-Boy, but that was before it was a pet name, so it's not that. and it's not a distrust of newbies, cause you were downright welcoming to Jusker and Shadowboxer. It's like reverse Super-envy, except you don't have powers either. So, why did you dislike me from the moment we met, if not earlier.
With Jusker in the car
At his "Nobody is glad to see you" remark, she flips the bird to Apex. But she nods as he offers the maskYeah, Actually... Alexandra tosses him a beat up black hoodie. Picked that up in a charity shop. I know you can do your own costume, but It might be better to do incognito.
You weren't that hard to find. Still a private investigator, remember. Incidentally, if nearby Shelters or Charity shops ask if your cousin Kiera got into contact with you... yeah, sorry about that, it was the easiest way, and I wanted some muscle along in case this case went sideways today, and more monsters appeared. We're gonna go talk to those kids. you in?

oh, hey, Jusker, by the way. what would someone with Holmsian deduction get after a once or twice over from you. anything that could give away your residence? I kinda want to drag you into the "Shadow and Apex" scene, after we finish sparring...

Alexandra walked home, a lot on her mind. So, Bran is a... well, the Body I see is not the body he has...Might need to get creative. and maybe Wingblade trusts me, a little at least. not a bad day
She retrieved her costume, and walked with her fathers stride again, fast, like she has somewhere to be, and straight, don't deviate form the path unless absolutely necessary. Make them move.
Jusker, unsure and new to this. He'd make a good partner, maybe. Brains and Brawn. or... no, shadowboxer's too... much. Thir-girl, Bran, and Wingblade are kinda a combo-platter. but that might not be a bad team. a powerful leader, with a second who likes a pretty different approach, evasive and stalwart, analytical and intuitive, a little reckless and a little conservative. then one of the heaviest hitters in the city, on a physical level. with me, they'd have an investigation and deduction specialist... not bad, if they want me..
Her mind keeps going, until she slips into an alley, and returns with the costume stowed in a bag, and heads for the dingy one-story house where she and her family have lived since before Halcyon was special.

The shadow returned to the scene, and gave Quinlan the rundown
Okay, so they came from nowhere. Literally. Some kind of summoning power, manifested by this card game She says, briefly pulling it out of her pocket to show. I don't think it was them/ they were pretty out of it. it being this reality, they were out of phase, untouchable, along with the cards. unfortunately, the creatures weren't.
A couple junior supers, plus Wingblade, Thor Girl, and Bran the Blessed stepped in and attacked. I was able to figure out the trick to minimize the explosion's damage. did a good job, pretty minimal collateral, as giant robot and lava monster brawls go.
then the lamer of the two SCA's, and that's a f&!&in' achievement right there, show up, spray first, ask questions later, and the supers get squirrel-y. I'll keep on the case, but it would have been nice to have been able to compare notes with them.
As she leaves she turns back to quinlan he kids are in shock, don't interrogate them now. They'll shut down, or make stuff up. I'll suit up after school, and swing by to talk to them, give you the cliff-notes. She says
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As she makes her way home, she checks the lowjack she slipped onto the hauberk.... gone. that's new... unless He's a projection or... no, to defensive for a projection, but maybe a transformation, or the hauberk is ethereal, too many possibilities She says, checking it's last known location, and heading there.
Arriving, she finds no Bran, but Wingblade is there, crying quietly. I could go, pretend I never saw this. It's what I'd want. well, mostly I'd want to not be caught... or not cry, I'm good at that. It's what dad would do. She takes several steps away, before muttering to herself F*** it, I've been the shadow enough for tonight And ducks into an alley, stripping off her coat, body armour, mask, and hat.
I already gave influence to Skuld, Shayera, Bronwyn, And Kenneth. I guess Jusker should take it too. the barrier was pretty cool.
And I think she grows into her Image, specifically, she was useless at actual supering, couldn't protect or save anyone. but she was a useful investigator. so Savior down, Superior up.
Okay.... Hold up there, Sparky Alexandra says, holding up her Police consultant badge and approaching the police cars.
I'm liscenced to act as a costumed investigator, and have an exception from the SIDEKICK laws. she turns and Jestures toward Jusker and ShadowBoxer Those two aren't costumed Vigilantes. look at them. they weren't patrolling. they're Gifted who appeared at the fight to stop loss of civilian life. Pretty sure there were "Good Samaritan" protections in the law.
As for those guys She gestures to Apex, Wingblade, Bran, and Thor Girl Wingblade says Whippoorwill worked out a licence for her, like I have. Apex over there did't engage in fighting, he was evacing civilians, legal under the laws so long as he didn't try to fight the giants. and those two are both over 18. Thor-girl by a couple hundred years she finishes as she gets withing a meter of the shouting cop.
Symbol of Authority: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 4) + 2 = 9
These... are left over form the old team. Right. how many of them are lefts, anyway... The shadow takes the comms device without comment.
At Apex's Don't want to investigate comment. I was prioritizing, Apex. These guys kinda have a time limit, or did you forget that most of the people here are acting in defiance of the SIDEKICK laws. The investigation can wait 2 minutes. A bit of organization can't. But You're right. you guys did your job, time for me to do mine.
Thank you, I really mean that. Alexandra says. then she extends the communicator back to Wingblade But, This feels like a team sorta thing. That would be... well, it would just be moving too fast for me.
She fishes through her coat, pulling out a burner phone and proffering it to Bran, before saying. Look, I asked because you guys saved my ass out here, and it's basic courtesy to keep you guys in the loop for this one. plus, if there's about to be a repeat performance, I'd be happier knowing I can get in contact with 5 Capes who can deal with s!@* like giant monsters. But that. She indicates the communicator. Is a commitment I'm not ready to make. Nothing personal.
Gonna wait to respond to ShadowBoxer, in case he changes it up or something. And why don't Wingblade, Bran, Apex, and Skuld take influence over Alexandra, Just for Gits and shiggles
Well met She returns the giant's greeting, a smirk upon her lips. Damn, He looked big from afar.
Thank you. She says to Wingblade That might be the nicest way I've ever heard it put Certainly better than Quinlan put it. Oh Christ give me patience, there's another one!. Though, gotta say, Thought you'd have learned your lesson about grabbing Rockets
Did that go beyond ribbing... Into hurtful. I hope not, Dad said ribbing
She takes a thermos out from an interior pocket of her coat, and pours herself a small cup of coffee from it, taking a hip flask and emptying a good amount of it into the coffee, turning it fro black as midnight to a nice inviting brown. You guys did the heavy lifting She says, as Bran starts talking about getting to the bottom of it And at least 3 of you might get arrested. So, why don't you guys let me debrief the kids, figure out what the hell kind of card game does that. Afterwards, i can pass along anything worth knowing, maybe organize another outing, if necessary. She pauses to drain half the cup, and gestures with the thermos, offering it to anyone else in the mood for caffeine. how many of you have means to get into contact with others?
Right, sorry. guesse the insignia gave it away. Alexandra says found an infected nerve, right there
So, I'm taking bets. do you think we find the super-phenomena, or the porn-stash in this room first? She asks Apex, looking through the spilled contents of the booksace, and the area behind it, for something that looks like real super-tech or magic
Okay... imminent explosion... unless the other supers stop it... I'll take cover. She thinks, as she moves through the room, knocking over a bookshelf full of s$%$ty YA Fanasy and Sci-Fi Just guessing, based on my pre-teen bookshelf, grabbing a couple pillows before taking shelter behind the bookshelf, pushing it toward the sturdiest looking part of the wall. Not s# I can do now... cause god knows I was useful this fight
defend self from explosion: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (2, 2) + 2 = 6
Or she put a bunch of shrapnel behind her... that's also possible... This is gonna hurt
