Lawrence Kimball was an up and coming lawyer of some importance who specialized in criminal law and it was his specialization that got him on the right side of the law. However when one goes up against the dregs of society then things tend to get nasty in your life. Lawrence knows this first hand as the men came to his home and his family suffered because of him.
Lawrence's career took a sharp dive and he began rather unpopular with his actions in the courtrooms as he no longer believed in innocent until proven guilty. That was when the last item of his wife's muesum collection for "Japanese Antiques of the Samurai Era" arrived. Lawrence was surprised by a package arrive addressed to his dead wife and opened it to find a japanese mempo inside.
Maybe it was fate or maybe it wasn't but the spirit inside of the mempo that had laid dormant for centuries reacted to the thrist for vengeance in Lawrence.
That was the birth of the Samurai. It wasn't entirely unknown for heroes to be brutal with their justice during the Moore Act with the FORCE Ops in play but the way that the Samurai differed was that he allowed no interference. He never spoke and just cut down anyone that stood in his way as he took down the city criminals which put him on the wrong side of many other heroes.
His destruction of police squads is what lead to his defeat at the hands of Centurion himself in 1993 right before the Terminus Invasion. There would not be another appearence of the Samurai until during the Terminus Invasion. It was the death and sacrifice of Centurion against Omega that sparked the changes in Samurai that would evenually turn him away from vengeance. Though the Samurai again vanished directly following the end of the Terminus Invasion (Lawrence was to frightened what he HAD become before the Invsion and locked it away).
Lawrence's career sky-rocketed again after the Terminus Invasion and he would eventually become the district attroney of the Freedom City at thirty but always the spirit of the Samurai called to him. It wouldn't be until the year 2000 that the Samurai would reappear when Lawrence lost a case against one of the city scum just to have him back in court amonth later for murder.
Though the Samurai was not as brutal and seem more tempered on his return. He remained a lone wolf for a few years before he would join the Vanguard of Liberty and become one of it's prominent members.
Appearence: When Lawrence dons the mempo it seems the only solid peice of the Samurai. Samurai's armor and blade appear to be ghostly and normally whatever suit that Lawrence is wearing is visible underneith the spiritual armor.
