SPECIAL ABILITIES

Arcane Bond Familiar: bat named Fitzgerald

Arcane School Conjuration (infernal binder) school
—Assume Control (8/day) At 1st level, you can attempt to gain control over a summoned creature by disrupting the bond between it and the caster who summoned it. You must make a caster level check (1d20 + caster level) equal to 10 + the summoning caster’s level. If you know the summoned creature’s name, you receive a +2 circumstance bonus on the check. If the check is successful, you can control the summoned creature as if you had summoned it for a number of rounds equal to 1/2 your wizard level (minimum 1 round). This does not increase the duration of the original summoning. The original summoning caster can attempt to regain control of the summoned creature as a standard action by making a caster level check against your caster level + 10. When your control ends, the creature reverts to the control of its summoner.
At 9th level, you can use this ability to bargain with called creatures as if you were the caster who conjured them. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Intelligence modifier.
—Summoner's Charm (Su) +2 Whenever you cast a conjuration (summoning) spell, increase the duration by a number of rounds equal to 1/2 your wizard level (minimum 1). This increase is not doubled by Extend Spell. At 20th level, you can change the duration of all summon monster spells to permanent. You can have no more than one summon monster spell made permanent in this way at one time. If you designate another summon monster spell as permanent, the previous spell immediately ends.

Background:

Virianustinax was a fairly talented apprentice devil binder, with a promising career ahead of him in Cheliax. After some nasty business with his master, involving a fork, a glabrezu, and a succubus, Virianustinax was quietly sent away to aid Chelaxian interests in Molthune as ambassador until things had died down back home enough for him to be at least somewhat useful. (It was pretty nasty).

Virianustinax has been in Molthune nearly ten years now, and fears he will ever return. Even so, he has been faithfully serving his country's interests, and volunteered for this mission as a way to gain the Molthunians' trust.

While he has difficulty increasing his capabilities with no master to teach him, Virianustinax has nevertheless gained much from his time in Molthune, namely the ability to study without having to watch his back quite as intently as in Cheliax.

Virianustinax is loyal to Molthune only so long as it benefits Cheliax. If he thinks dealing with Nirmathas will aid Cheliax, he will not hesitate. Otherwise, Virianustinax is completely loyal to Cheliax, and through it, Molthune, for now.

Appearance and Personality:

Virianustinax is a suave gentleman (of a Victorian sort). He is always impeccably dressed, and polite to a fault (he will greet everything they kill). Unshakably calm, he takes everything in stride, adjusting well-laid plans without batting an eye. He can always be trusted to see any arrangement, promise, or contract through to the best of his ability. Despite all this, he is deeply suspicious of everyone and everything, gauging possible motives in everything anyone says and does, constantly assessing his odds.

Virianustinax stands 5'10", with prematurely gray hair, courtesy of "The Incident", as he calls it, and a bushy, well trimmed mustache. Hedoesn't actually need the monocle he wears over the left of his brown eyes, but feels it makes him appear more cultured. His top hat adds a good 6" to his height. His suit is of a strange weave no one has before seen, and most consider him eccentric at best, yet none can deny that he is gifted, and powerful for a wizard his age.

Dot for Gameplay Thread:

"At least try to pay attention to the lesson. You actually seemed willing to learn. Well, one can hardly fault you for your attention span, I would assume that fault would fall to whichever of the gods made the colossal mishap of creating your race," Virianustinax sighs at the back of
