The following can be looted from Toruko the Crow: potion of invisibility, +1 chain shirt, mwk composite shortbow [+1 Str], 20 arrows in a quiver, mwk rapier, cloak of resistance +1.

Constitution check vs DC 13 to stabilize...1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19 succeeds! Stable at -3 hp...

Toruko’s wounds coagulate... The crow trembles and moans, but remains unconscious...

Constitution check vs DC 12 to stabilize...1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10 fails! Drops to -3 hit points...

Toruko bleeds into the desert sand...

Getting up early and moving with the party, Wulfgar stays near Volreg as the crow chargers across the desert. Stepping forward protecting his friend Wulfgar begins to rage. His appearance changes, the light from his halo shining, his skin appears like pewter and his eyes turn white the same color as the halo. Lifting the greatsword he slashes at the first mate. "Latlh mIw ghotvam qet!"

Rage, AC -2 attack: MW great sword, power attack
[dice=attack]1d20 + 9 for [dice=damage]2d6 + 12

** spoiler omitted **

Wulfgar’s greatsword hacks deeply into the crow’s left shoulder and the slaver collapses with a ragged croak, motionless at the bloodrager’s feet!

Unconscious at -2 hit points!

Full run toward Volreg, 115 feet, closing the distance to melee range...

Toruko sprints across the rocky hard pan desert, closing the 115-feet distance between himself and Volreg in about six seconds, rapier glinting in the early twilight...

Noticing that he was spotted, the man waves at the tengu.

AHA!! THERE, CAPTAIN!! I SPY THE LIGHTNING-HURLER!! THERE, AMONG THE ROCKS!!

The Tengu points out Volreg waving at him from about a hundred feet away to Captain Barak...

In the morning, he packs everything up and follows the tiny lord until he sees the captain and crew in the distance. Sneaking to get an okay look, the farmer begins crawling to make sure the men don't see him as he gets about 35 meters from them, preferably on high ground.

The air then begins to swirl and crackle about Volreg as he readies himself for a well placed shot, preferably on the bird man.

Roll another Stealth check with a -20 penalty for sniping, Volreg...

Perception vs Volreg's Stealth check including -10 distance penalty 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15

AAAAAAARRRRGGH!!! WHERE ARE YE, YE YELLOW-BELLIED, SPINELESS JELLYFISH!! SHOW YERSELF!!

The Crow scans the direction the lightning struck from...

The Tengu squawks angrily at Captain Barak and slaps him hard across the face!

*KARRRROK!!* DAMN IT, CAPTAIN! MAN UP, YOU COWARDLY SQUID!! IT AIN'T DJINN, YOU DAFT FOOL, IT'S THOSE SCALLYWAGS WHAT HIJACKED THE ALANQILIS WITH THE SAME DEVILTRY THEY BE PLAYIN' WITH US NOW!! AIN'T THAT RIGHT, YE YELLOW SEA-DOGS!! SONS O' HARLOTS!! COME OUT AN' FIGHT LIKE MEN, YE COWARDLY LAMPREYS!!

Captain Barak of the Alanqilis wrote:
Our camels! They must drink too, Toruko, or die of thirst...

Our camels will die to sustain us, Captain! It is unfortunate, but that is what we face if we are to survive and recapture the Alanqilis...

In mimicked Arabic: *Squaaawwwk!* Pull yourself together, Captain! It’s not genies! It’s those Europeans who attacked us at Anfa and stole our ship with their trickery! Now they are probably somewhere behind us, and have used magic to steal our water! We must find them, take them by surprise, and kill them while they slumber, and take their water...

Barak looks at Toruko with panic-crazed eyes for a moment...

Water... We must find water, Toruko! The desert has dried my throat fiercely...

Let us find some cactus and drink of the juices...

Uh oh. Captain’s already raving... Not good...Where are they hiding? They must be behind us, no? Must backtrack quickly and surprise them...

I knew it! Those rat bastards escaped somehow, and used some kind of magic to doom us!

Toruko, also mounted on a camel laden with water skins, looks back over his shoulder toward the twinkling lights of Marrakech behind them...

I got a strange feeling in my craw...

I will enjoy running my blade through your blackened heart, you foul piece of filth. Count your time....although you probable can't count that high....maybe get your pet canary to count for you... Vanna says, her wprds dripping with contempt and malice.

The Tengu eyes Vanna through the bars like a hawk eyeing a field mouse... The First Mate cocks his head and coos like a dove...

With Captain Barack is his First Mate, Toruko the Tengu, who cocks his head in a snarky, taunting attitude, but says nothing...

Seeing his captain routed by the Northman and his company, First Mate Toruko turns and flees from the fray as well, dashing out of the caravanserai and off into the night!

Withdraw from combat and double move out of the caravanserai...

After, after...

First Mate Toruko hops up onto the table and thrusts his rapier at Vanna 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29 confirm 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27 critical hits for 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 5) + 2 = 12 piercing damage!

Round 1:

First Mate Toruko rises (move action), drawing a rapier with his right hand (as part of the move action to rise), then pulls a dagger from a sheath at the small of his back (as another move action)...

He hisses at Wulfgar: HIIIISSSS!!

Toruko crows in alarm! KAROOOOOOHH!!

Altin Karela wrote:

Have we recovered spell slots since the tomb...? I've still got at least one left, anyway.

Altin whistles, catching the first mate's eye, and blows him a raspberry.

Hideous laughter, DC 15 Will for the first mate or prone and can take no actions.

No, you haven't rested since the tomb--this is later that night...

Will save vs DC 15 hideous laughter 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 succeeds!

First Mate Toruko chuckles... Not the hideous laughter Altin was hoping to hear... The tengu glares at Altin with malice in its beady black eyes...

The First Mate says nothing, but stares at Wulfgar with dark, beady eyes...

Sense Motive vs Wulfgar’s Bluff 5 automatically succeeds...

First Mate Toruko leans in close to Captain Barak and whispers something in his ear...

First Mate Toruko is also present, seated near Captain Barak... He makes no attempt to conceal his obvious interest in the adventurers...

First Mate Toruko also does not fail to note the adventurers success and sudden reputation in Anfa for being tough bravos, capable of accomplishing dangerous tasks...

In Arabic: Aye-aye, Captain! The tengu’s words drip sarcasm...

Squeak-rats, I reckon... Don’t be a gloopy codger!

Thieves’ Cant:
Spies, probably... Don’t be a stupid fool!

Seated beside Captain Barak at the caravanserai is a man-sized bipedal crow with feathered humanoid arms and hands instead of wings, wearing a sailor’s garb, a pair of kukris sheathed at his waist... The crow-man cocks its head as it stares at each of the adventurers for a moment, starting with Wulfgar...as if sizing each one up...
