We have had two minataurs in two differant campaigns. The last player did the best job. I was running game in my homebrew in which the players were villians. I was inspired by the movie "Knockaround Guys." Anyway i started the party at 1st level, and purly by accident the minataur became a PC. I did have a problem with the LA. It threw some ballance off, but we coped with it mainly because the player was such a good roleplayer and really got into the character, and added to the story so much that i could not see to pull the PC or make any changes.

You wouldn't have to keep the minataurs evil. keep in mind that it is your game and you can make neccesary changes to make a good story.

Im my campaign, the primary city we play in has these races. (the order listed is not significant): Humans, Elves- halfe elves, dwarves, Halflings, centaurs, gnomes.

We felt like the centaurs give the city an intersting feel, as all shops and buildings have to make accomadations. they are major players in the city's development and history, being part of the city councel and government as well as involved in big business in the city.

If you put a lot of thought into the campaign you can make the race work really well with everbody else sot that the game has a realistic feal to it.

My opinion, an old gamer should have 20 years gaming under his belt, no matter the game. If you have played D&D for 20+ years then you have played at least 2nd ed. I think as far as D&D goes, you need to have played 1st ed but when it was in print. To have played in the late 80s or later is not the same. A youg gamer started with 3rd ed or 3.5. If you played any time in the 90s and started with 2nd then you are maturing, you have passed adolesecse into adulthood.

AS for me, I started in the spring of '79 at the age of 11. I played a basic fighter given to me to get started. We played B2 and i fell in love with it. All the orcs had Pig heads. The next day we played C2: The Hidden Shrine of Tomoakan. I tok the pre rolled charactor Cair, an Elf Magic user/ Thief. I liked the charactor so much i keept it ran it up to 49th/33rd MU/Thief. I made my own charactor sheets because all i could find were Basic D&D sheets and my AD&D charactor whould work on it. I still have every version of Cair. I bought the PHB and the DMG in 79 and still have both books in great shape. I do have the DDG with the Melnibonain and Nehwan Mythos. (by the way, Moorcock can be mostly associated with the British band Hawkwind. They were all friends back in the 60's before the band was formed and not only do they perform songs that moorcock has written for them, but he has performed with them many times. I have a live album they did, with moorcock narating called "The saga of Elric of Melnibonae" which is bassicly book one. a good band, check them out) I have most of the 1st ed modules as well as the Greyhawk box set. I had that map on my wall.

to edit. the Hawkwind album is "The Chronicle of the Black Sword".

I made a smooth transition to 2nd ed, where my homebrew campaign started. I vehemently rejected 3rd ed even though many of the changes incorprated our own house rules. I picked up 3.5 only because i had been playing the D20 Star Wars and liked the game mechanics.

I could so go on. Any way, I have always liked these types of threads. I like hearing what others have done, remembering what i have done and hearing aobut the stuff done before I got involved in the game. Especially the Avalone Hill people. I used to have an old Axis and Allies published by Avalon Hill. It fell apart.

Wow, I am amazed that so many people did not like the movie. I really enjoyed it. It seems to me that all the complaints are over really minor things. It is should be obvious to everybody that the marvel movies are more akin to the Ultimate universe than the classic marvel books. In ultimate Spiderman, peter and MJ are 16, but so much of the story reflects the ultimate books. If you have read spider man since the late 60's then you will realize that the driving plot in the book is not fighting supervillians but teenage angst. The ultimate books reflect this very well. Spiderman has always been a bit of a soap opera. In high school, peter had the hots for Gwen Stacy, had to deal with flash Thompson hassling him, His best friend Harry Osborne dealing with his own problems with his father and everybody thinking he might kill himself. To me, the movies keep that aspect.

As for the alleged "emo" peter. I do not really know what this emo crap is. Obviously the symbiote was influencing peter to act not just aggressive but cocky as well. Like someone who is extremely narcissistic, and arrogant.

I am not sure what it is everybody felt the movie lacked. It is not going to be the comic book exactly. Even if the Raimi boys do it. I am just excited to see a live action version of the books after reading it for 35 years and seeing so many bad cartoons. I really liked the movie a lot.
