Tavis is an enigma. Appearing as a Bard or Sword-For-Hire of either Human, Feline Sapien or Elvish decent, he travels through various lands, often stopping at the various inns as he passes through the regions.
Formerly a King in a not-to-distant Kingdom that was recently ravaged in events unknown, he has left his throne in the hands of a steward and abandoned his heritage, after helping to rebuild the kingdoms defenses, while he wanders on a personal quest of which only he knows the details. His often youthful demeanor often masks wisdom well beyond his assumed age, and is known to quote words of wisdom from sages throughout the ages (or just say silly bumper-sticker quotes). Though he appears young, he is actually very old, possibly a few hundred thousand years or more, and his true age is currently unknown to all but himself.
The extent of Tavis's physical and magical abilities has never been accurately measured by common standards. He possesses several magical abilities, though he does not employ them often, and so the full extent of his abilities is almost entirely unknown. He is suspected of being Empathic and possibly a telepath, as well as may hold some healing magics. He may possess defensive and destructive magics, but none have been accurately reported by any living witnesses. Rumors say his latent powers are being sealed by a dark curse, and that he has been slowly but surely weakening those bonds; this has also been unconfirmed.
Tavis is the current holder of the title of "The Seeker of Truth", and as is known by some scholars, once called as The Seeker, only death can end this calling. He has been known to speak the common tongue (English), High Elven, and Drow.
Tavis has a high respect for bards, and a great love of music of all kinds. He seems to treat music as a language of it's own, and will often buy drinks for bards that show some aptitude. He has been known to be generous, though few have seen him act in anger (that have lived to report of it, anyways). He seems generally good natured, and always enjoys intelligent conversation. Though he can be quite patient with people in general, he does not have as much respect for those that show themselves to be arrogantly ignorant. He abhors fighting out of anger without just cause, but is a very capable fighter and military commander when necessary. He respects honorable warriors and swordplay as an art form, and will gladly fight to defend himself, his clan and his ideals, but loathes violence in general and prefers a diplomatic solution to combat if possible.
His romantic life is something he has been keeping close to himself of late. Few know where his heart and loyalties lie, but they definitely belong to someone. He shows a high respect for people in general. He has a low tolerance for men who treat women disrespectfully, and distains the Gorean lifestyle as crude and nothing more a power trip for truly weak boys pretending to be men. He also, however, has a low tolerance for those who forcefully meddle in the affairs of others when such meddling is not asked for.
Tavis's knowledge of the mystical realms can be quite extensive. His travels have taken him, from time to time, to worlds such as Krynn, Faerun, Eberron, Aden, Elmore, Azeroth, Cyrrodil, Oblivion, the Midlands, and numerous places beyond, though he admits his explorations of all of these places has been minimal and is far from complete.
About a year or so ago, Tavis was made Aelfred to the Queen of Alcarin, but was forced to assumed the throne upon her mysterious disappearance. He has tried to rule justly, but has felt his efforts have been wasted as he finds his Kingdom overrun with wannabe-gods. Recently the Heir to the Throne has made himself known, and Tavis has gladly passed the crown on. Though he will remain Aelfred and advisor to the new King, he has taken up his wandering lifestyle once again, on a personal quest of which only he knows the purpose...
