Description Taria is a very laid back (for a Gnome at least) and dedicated person. She puts about as much worth into her words as a knight would in his. She's tall and attractive by Gnome standards and hardly ever has trouble making a friend out of a stranger. Her hair is always kept short as to not interfere while shes working. ____________________________________________
Backstory:
Tired of her father Molocadinan's attempts to convince her to stay in Absalom and become a respected artist like him and of her mother Alaranin's attempts to marry her off. She allowed herself to be swept up into the world at a young age, Tarianium Cholandari (Taria for short, Gnomish naming conventions am I right) Set out of the home nest with but one goal in mind. Explore and have fun. However she didn't go very long without having trouble.
Her parents, well aware and supportive of her wanderlust convinced a traveling circus to take her with them. "Farland's tantalizing tent!" they called it, a moderately sized enterprise with whimsical shows and acts abound. "Its a better deal than you'd usually get." Her father said. "Most travelers end up going it alone or being forced to go to certain places." Taria agreed with him and took the opportunity. She had always been good at housework, thanks in no small part to her sorcery. Wiping floors while sitting in a comfortable chair is certainly not a bad job to have in exchange for room and board. Around a year and a half after she joined the circus she began to feel a bit homesick. She was certainly having fun and she had a lot of friends among the circus workers. Her favorite of witch was a Large half orc man that went by the name of Manny, He didn't talk much but he and Taria got along just fine. He even taught her how to handle an animal, a skill she would soon put to use. No others, however she felt very personal with. One day something happened that put quite a bit of spring in her step, the boss, Mr.Farland, had just arranged to get some new exotic animals, all they had to do was travel to osirion! Got'em for cheap too cause they where all sick and dying, they had a cleric on staff that could take care of that though. One by one they lead the sick animals into there new cages so the cleric could start working on getting them healed up. As the business transaction went off without a hitch, Taria decided to take her leave and go explore the city. Deciding that spending time spending time in the district called "the veins" might be fun, not really sure why though, so, she heads off to do some sight seeing in the wonderfully exotic locals underbelly. Only finding one thing of interest the whole time, a sick and dying baby hippo near the edge of the district along the beach. Upon trying to approach the dying baby, one of the nearby workers warns her "Wait lady! Those water horses are a tricky bunch! They act all sick, then their friends grab ya!". Being reasonably sure that the animal was actually ill Taria paid the man no heed. Managing to drag the poor orphan to a well hidden spot until she could go get Manny for some help taking the poor thing back. She named him Harold. Taria managed to plead a free casting of remove disease from one of the on staff clerics that owed her a favor. From then on him and Taria where inseparable. It was around 5 five days after this time that Taria realized she was beginning to bore of the circus, the people where nice, the food was good, the places they went where fun too. It just started feeling to much like a home, to samey. She did some asking around at a couple hot spots around the city to see if anyone had a lead on a job that could satisfy a new obsession of hers, RIDDLES! As it turns out there were none... She had hoped to at least find SOMETHING! With a shrug she simply wandered around looking for a good tavern get boozed up at, maybe get a guy friend for a little while. She found one by the name of -----, she went inside and found herself playing a gambling game after having a few drinks. She lost, in large part because she didn't know how to play the game, not at all because she was drunk. What really floored her though, is the revelation that each of the chips they had been playing with was worth 50 gold pieces, She had lost 10 of them to the man across the table from her. She asked many questions to the winner, among them where, "why are you using such large amounts of money?!", "You don't honestly expect me to pay that do you!?" and "Why did you let me join!?". All meet with a scoff and a dismissive, and a bit threatening, "Figure it out, short stuff." After that whole traumatizing experience ended with Taria seemingly indebted to a violent gang member She said some tearful goodbyes to her friends at the circus (Manny nearly crushing her in a bear hug), and gave a handshake to Farland, who promised to come back at some point in the future to see his old cleaning girl. She kept the news of her ne crippling debt to herself, not wanting to bother them with it, instead opting too tell them she meet a boy (not entirely untrue). It wasn't so bad though? Right? Ten years of work would probably pay it off... That's like a year in Gnome years. "Stuck... welp, Harold, lets go find something to do. Its going to take a long time to pay this off." and off she went, searching for a job and finding one at the an Inn, doing the exact same thing she had done for nearly 12 years at the circus was a safe bet of getting a job. It didn't hurt that her new little friends back was about the size of a serving tray. After a five years of working at the Inn she had around half of her debt payed. Gray hair has started popping up around her head and her skin tone has been getting paler and paler. Working so hard and so long has kept her from doing anything interesting, Its starting to bleach her... Oh wait, whats this? they oppened up THAT place for exploration? well... maybe thats how she can get herself out of this mess. Now we just have to find some people too go in with, Hmmm. |
