Nothing To Prove: Geek Girls & The Doubleclicks

This resonated deeply with my experience of being frequently judged, bullied, excluded or singled out for worse treatment, and not just by the cool kids. It may with yours as well. Or you may be on the other side of this experience. It's worth thinking about either way.

In any case, I think the world would be a much better place if more people watched this and understood what it felt like.

As a way to focus on the question of 'how can we bring more women into gaming and make them feel welcome and included', I would like to start a thread specifically for women to list what makes them comfortable with a gaming venue or group, and what makes them uncomfortable with a venue or group. Female identified and female presenting people are welcome to speak about their personal experiences and how they personally feel.

I respectfully ask that primarily male identified, male presenting people do not post here, especially to argue and invalidate the people who are talking about how they personally feel and what they have personally experienced. It would be a lot more useful and conducive to honest feedback if no one was told they were wrong for their own feelings and experiences.

There is no barrier to creating a similar thread for male identified people, nor to posting your opinions on your own thread or on many other threads about how annoying it is to have to be politically correct and avoid offending people whose experiences you don't agree with and haven't shared, or how wrong women are to complain that there is any problem.
