keeper: Syn takes a moment to take in the surroundings, pausing for a few to admire the instrument and the sounds that its keeper coax out of it. Looking around he seems to see only halflings about.
Moving to the bar, he nods at the red haired one.

Spoiler: Don't think I need to bluff yet...Peter can come with me if he likes, I'll tell him I'd like another set of eyes, but if he puts up a fuss, I wont press the matter.
Syn looks over to the blonde man with the blade for a moment, then eyes the shifter behind him, wondering if she's some kind of bodyguard in disguise or just a lady of the evening. He then looks down at the goblin. "You selling, eh?=? I'm afraid I haven't any coin to spare. But you may want to try that fellow over by the church. You see that blade he's got? Bet that's worth a pretty piece of coin. With a blade like that, you can bet he's got the money. And look at the company he keeps. Expensive tastes." The idea here is to redirect the goblin to the blonde man, then hide and follow him. Not sure if that's Bluff or Diplomacy, as I'm not really lying, but trying to convince him of a better customer.

Keeper: Ah, there is more to this!
Syn was pondering his next move, and finally decided he needed more information. "Peter, when did you hear this last? Could you point this person out if you saw him again?" If the man was looking for Ethan, and Syn suspected it was him (far to great a coincidence), he needed to know what he wanted with the boy before proceeding further. He wanted to help the boy out, but if it put himself or the other Copperheads in danger, he would have to think carefully indeed. "If you don't know, perhaps I should go pay a visit to Faela. If he's been asking around, I'm sure he'd go look there." Looking back to the new boy, he took in the youngster's anxiety. "Perhaps you should stay here a while Ethan. You've had enough excitement for a while." Glancing at Karlo, "Why don't you find a good safe place for Ethan to kip down a while, and I'll see if I can't bring back a shiny for you." With that, Syn gathered a few of his things and began to set out towards the Fallen to see how far the magic rat-hole that had appeared before him went.

Spoiler: "Settle down now. Fun is fun, but we need to figure this out."
Syn took stock of the other youths. He knew that this group had a lot in common with rats, that when they smelled food (or weakness) they would swarm to get their fill. Looking at Peter with cold eyes, he glanced back to the new boy, Ethan. He could tell something was worrying him, and he was determined to find out what. It was clear that he would have to investigate on his own, it would take time to win Ethan fully over, and it seemed as though events were moving on their own schedule. "Who was asking about him, Peter? Did you speak to them yourself, or is this just street babble? Is there actually someone lurking about our kip, or what?[/b]

Keeper: Squinting for a moment or two at the "dragonmark", Syn scratches his head. Haven't seen that one before. "Ethan. There's a strong name. Looks like you're touched Ethan. Touched by luck, touched by the gods, I can't say." Leading Ethan to a place to sit, Syn grabs a blanket and gives it a quick whip to get most of the dust off of it. He puts it on the boy's shoulders and steps back a few feet. Putting his hand on his chin, he paces back and forth, lightly flicking the ring at the center of his lower lip with his thumb. More talking to himself; "What to do. What to do. This glass tower business seems important. But we've also got that you're obviously out of place here. Don't think most folk around here went to school, myself being the rare exception...now...should we try to get you home?" Then, stopping, he pointedly directs his speech at the new boy Ethan. "Could you take me to this glass tower, Ethan? I think the voices might be worth listening to. Worth investigating at least. Then maybe we can get you home some how. I have a friend in the watch you could maybe help you." "What do you say?"

Keeper: Syn considers the mark for a moment, trying to recall if he's seen it in any of his books. Knowledge (Arcana): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 Then to the boy;
Syn frowns. The boy seemed amiable, but was still an outsider. Looking to Karlo; "Hm. Well, he saved you, least you can do is get him a piece of bread and some water. And get your brother while you're at it. " Then putting a hand on the new boy's shoulder, Syn looks at him; "How about we start at the begining...what's your name? How did you end up down here?"

DM: Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7(doh!) assuming the ravers general term for nutjob/berserkers? and Black Claws are a shifter gang, yes? Also, have I heard the phase "in the green glass" before? Raising an eyebrow and looking more closely at the boy, Syn's curiosity was even more piqued. "Six, eh? You must have magic in your blood." He takes a closer look into the boy's eyes, and cupping the boy's chin he examines him closely for scars or marks (dragon or otherwise). "Tell me more about the green glass, and...well, where you come from? We don't let just anyone be a Copperhead, you know. Although...there's something about you...hmm" Diplomacy to calm the kid/make him feel welcome: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22(booyah!)

GM: Brushing the panicking boy's hands off his shirt, he grasps his wrist and turns a stern gaze to Karlo,
"What did I say about going out alone? Especially since Rix hasn't been seen in a week? What is it going to take? Gods!" Composing himself, Syn turns back to the new boy. "Well, I suppose you aren't dumb and deaf, but you still might be dumb. I'm sure Karlo is grateful for your help. Now, tell me more about these ravers? Did they follow you? He glances around the area to see if there are any others he doesn't recognize...

GM: Looking down at the new child, Syn sizes him up. Nodding at the others, he give one a heavy pat on the shoulder.
Pacing around the boy and looking him up and down, he finds the position of the phantom object the boy must be looking at. Crouching low next to the mute, he brushes his hair out of his eyes and squints. perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 Frowning, he turns to look the boy in the face. "No. I don't see it, whatever it is. Anyway, you don't need to talk to be a Copperhead, but you do need to prove yourself, and you do need your ring. You think you can do that?" Syn waits to see if he's really mute, or perhaps dumb as well. |
