Background:

Sylvia was an anomaly at birth, a changeling from a mother who was certainly human. Her father recognized that Sylvia was a creature of evil, a curse of a child, but could not bring himself to kill her, his own innocent daughter. Taking her and her pale white eye with him, he made his way to the edges of the Chitterwood, abandoning here there. He considered both Sylvia’s death by the beasts within and her unlikely survival under the hags within the wood, and decided either were valid options, for it would hide his eternal shame regardless.

For Sylvia, it ended up being the latter, found by the witches who watched over the forest. While still a child, there was hope to fashion her into one of many covens, and that her immaturity would only assist in molding her to their own devices.

While Sylvia was taught the arcane arts, she also picked up a dangerous curiosity mixed with a deep, perhaps unnatural cruelty. She was put in charge of cooking with a few crones, cleaning the meats and fetching water and seasonings. The hags ate all manner of beasts, whatever could be found in the wood, and Sylvia was expected to know how to prepare each of them.

When Sylvia handled the corpses of the hunted animals, she felt a connection with them, channeling their fury, their last cling to life. She enjoyed such feelings, and began to collect the parts of creatures that gave off a powerful sensation.

It was through this practice that Sylvia met the pig she would eventually name “Porkchop” in both a practical and affectionate sense, as the pig had managed to find itself eating the leftover meat lazily misplaced by Sylvia around the wood. Sylvia, catching him eating a discarded liver, noted the creature’s strange enmity for all else but its own. Sylvia took a liking to it, declaring it her new pet (the last few being various birds, which either ran away or met a grisly fate). Porkchop was less keen on the relationship until Sylvia was willing to feed him, finding contentment in being pampered by the changeling.

Sylvia spent most of her days trying exotic meals and exchanging corpse with the hags and other changelings - including the odd humanoid, which Sylvia ended up disliking (although Porkchop found it delicious). Sylvia explored her occult powers, dabbling into the emotions and psychic influences of spirits, while brushing up on her arcane studies with the other prospective witches.

Sylvia’s boring lifestyle of work and play was broken by the Glorious Reclamation, as the crusaders raided her coven. Both kitchen and her collection were ravaged in the ensuing battle, and Sylvia made a hasty retreat with her savior Ahnrei. Porkchop managed to save two of her implements in his mouth - although he was likely just trying to eat them - but other than that, Sylvia had nothing. But from this loss came a new sensation, similar to that of Porkchop’s: it was time for revenge.

Appearance and Personality:

Sylvia is a strong-headed woman of human heritage, the proof of her changeling nature being only present in her pearl white eye. Conniving with a cruel eye for detail, she has a habit of picking out things she would like to have for herself, giving off an uncomfortable aura of scrutiny. She prefers warmer clothes, that are usually dirty from meal stains or splatters of blood, intermixed so that none can tell the difference.

Sylvia’s real source of enjoyment in life is her collection, pride in ownership of the physical residue of life. She is arrogant and self-serving, the only creature she finds empathy for being Porkchop, who fills the role of useful partner more than friend. Still, she prefers the company of others, if only to take advantage of their usefulness and fuel her pride on their praise.
