Simple question, as stated in the subject.

Can a Monk use both the Deliquescent Gloves and a Forge fist Amulet at the same time with his or her unarmed strikes?

Hello fellow gamers… I have not posted on these boards in a while, so I hope post this in the right place.

I gave D&D 4th ed. a try… I’ve been playing for six months, and will finish the mini campaign I’m running using the system in about two months, but looking to the future, I’ve realized 4th ed. doesn’t do it for me and my players. I’m thinking of using Pathfinder for my next campaign.

This is not meant as an attack on the system, or an attempt to declare one system superior to the other. Different strokes for different folks and all that. I just realize that my long running campaign (over 15 years now) is not a good fit for the new edition and from what I’ve read I think Pathfinder will be a better fit.

I’m getting the book when it comes out, but I don’t think I can wait that long to play, and am getting ready to use the Beta Rules for the game. However, I haven’t been here for all the discussion, and trying to sift through all the posts I’ve been getting a little lost. So I’m asking any hardcore Pathfinders fan for help, any rule change from Beta that’s appeared in the playtest process I should know about? Any pitfall I should avoid anything I should be on the lookout for?

Thank you in advance for any pointers and help you can give me.

Hope everyone has an excellent night.

Ok, I ranted about what I don’t like on the new Dragon (go to that forum and see, seems like I’m not the only one!), and there I said I would say what I like about Dungeon. Since I am a man of my word here it is.

Some background first. I was around when Dungeon began, and for a while I was a regular buyer and subscriber. I have always been a DM, but rarely do I use published adventures (2 times in 17 years gaming) but sometimes I did take ideas and encounters from some of the adventures, but even then that was a rare occurrence.

I dropped dungeon many years ago, and did not look back. The Contest of Champions brought me back, sort of. While I never run the adventures, I read the first one off a friends copy and liked it so much I was always on the lookout to read the next installment.

Then the Polyhedron/Dungeon merge brought me on board. I realize I was in the minority, but I loved it. The mini games were the main attraction, and all the other D20 goodies. When the new direction was announced I was concerned.

Still the definitive magazine for the DM sounded interesting. I got it and like it very much. The cover was great, CHECK, the adventures seemed interesting, had some ideas I could use, but best of all the maps and illustrations were great and these I get to use even more, CHECK! The columns although a little too simple for me seemed like a good start, Isle of dread, what fun, we need more of this style article, the NPC assassin great, and the booklet with the maps on the website was the icing on the cake.

You have a regular buyer of Dungeon, satisfied and happy. Now if Dragon could improve a little…

Well, let me be among the first to congratulate you all at Paizo for the new look, and the message boards. Sorry to damper the celebration, but my first post here in the Dragon forum is a complaint. Well maybe that is too strong a word; let’s call it a constructive criticism.

While I generally like the new Dungeon (and I promise to sing its praises, and shortcomings on a post on the corresponding forum), I really disliked the new Dragon. There are various points I dislike, but my general opinion is that it was too simplified, made too much like ANY magazine on subject X… Short articles, really basic, I realize you need to get new readers, and keep the younger crowd attracted to the hobby, but I thought it seemed too far off the beaten path.

Sometimes innovation is good, but in my opinion this was not it. New feats and spells are ok, Ecologies are great, and the deadly sins article was fun, but the rest of the mag really had little to attract me. The news section, all the upcoming attractions and product spotlights were too much. These days most fans get the hot news online and the coverage just seems like cheap sales pitches. This done in small amounts, like before was ok, so many pages devoted to them well, it seemed like a waste.

Something for every class every issue sounds impractical and excessive, and a new race, well do we need more of those. Ok I’m ranting. I’ll give Dragon the benefit of the doubt, I’ve been reading it since number 112 after all, but the first impression was not positive.

However I am sold on Dungeon. I feel like and old cranky DM after writing this (and YES I do realize it is aimed at players now!). Here is hoping it gets better in a couple of issues. I’ll update this when the next issue comes in.

END OF RANT…
