About Stagyar Zildoggo

First Two-Year Training

1) Simple Weapon Proficiency (Light & Heavy Mace) (STR)
Stayar has spent much of his spare time, in his previous village, training with the Militia. His dedication to training, combined with his size, have made him popular and have helped give him a sense of purpose. His greatest motivation, however, has been a desire to exorcise his personal daemons.

2) Handle Animal (CON)
While not training, Stagyar has spent all his time working alongside his father looking after the farm animals. He has built up something of a rapport with many of them, becoming attuned to their emotional state, and being able to sense when they are frightened or angry. His constant exposure to animals has also allowed him to influence their behaviour (hence his ability to train the wild dog whilst out in the woods).

3) Diplomacy (CHA)
To date, Stagyar's greatest challenge has been convincing everyone that he wants to be a Paladin (and, more importantly, that he intends to become one). He has spent many hours in discussion with his parents, their friends and the village priest, seeking some kind of acceptance from everyone as to his intended career. Notwithstanding their scepticism, he has finally convinced his parents that animal farming is not where he sees his future.

Second Two-Year Training

1) Ride (DEX)
Stagyar is planning on spending his next two years learning how to ride one of the horses that reside at the Risper farm. Whilst he's always been comfortable around animals (often more so than around humans), he's never really taken the opportunity to learn how to ride them rather than just herd them.

2) Decipher Script (INT)
Stagyar has also decided that it's time he tried to learn a little more about how writing works. Whilst he's literate to a basic level, he's never really had the need for what his father terms 'book-learning', but Stagyar is convinced that it would be useful to know something about other forms of writing, if he's going to go off and fight evil.

3) Heal (WIS)
Stagyar is also sure that being able to do some basic healing will be invaluable to him, particularly if he's going to put both himself and his friends in harm's way. He's heard that there's a wonderful healer in his new home village, and he can see that Vladimir is learning much from her. Stagyar hopes that he can learn something from both the healer and Vladimir.

4) Event Rolls

Stagyar's History

Stagyar's human, aged 17. His father's an animal farmer, and his mother's a simple, hardworking homemaker. He's worked on the farm since he was young, and he's used to elements of physical labour. He has no direct siblings, but he has a young cousin who's a child prodigy, and who's a sorcerer.

His early experiences have been mixed. He was caught out in a lightning storm during a previous journey, and got lost in the woods for days, giving him a dreadful phobia of owls. However, whilst out subsequently out playing in woods he befriended and trained a wild dog.

He has no family history of note, but his father is very hardworking, because Stagyar has saved 50 gold pieces. Stagyar has a burning desire to become a paladin - to right wrongs, fight evil and rid the world of monsters and, for some inexplicable reason, cabbage!

Stagyar's life to date has been hard, but generally fair. Having grown up working on his father's livestock farm, he's been used to physical work, mainly because he's had to bully (and, on occasion, wrestle) the animals, to make sure that they behaved. This lifestyle has imprinted its mark on him. By the time he reached his 17th birthday, Elor's 6ft5 and built like a brick outhouse.

Most people (usually including Stagyar) are at something of a loss to explain where his desire to become a Paladin comes from. However, if pushed, he will reluctantly reveal the story of the time, many years before, when his father was badly beaten by a group of men who wanted to steal some of his father's livestock.

Stagyar, young and frighted, hid in the cowshed as his father was beaten. Whilst there was little that Stagyar could possibly have done, he still remembers his father's shouts for help (and, latterly, his pleas for and end to the beating), and to this day has lived with a sense of shame for his own inaction. He has therefore resolved to fight evil and oppressors whenever he can.

Unfortunately for Stagyar, his life on the farm is not exciting; he puts up with the day-to-day drudgery, looking on it as an interlude before he can spend the weekend training with the Militia, and with the Sergeant in particular (who seems impressed with Stagyar's dedication to learning martial skills, and who is convinced that, even if Stagyar can't become a Paladin, he can be used as a battering ram!)

Stagyar has spent the past two years working on his fitness and stamina, and on trying to learn how to use a longsword. In what little spare time he's had, he's tried to convince everyone he knows that he's going to become a Paladin.
