DESCRIPTION:

A jagged scar runs down the left side of his face, starting from the temple and cutting across his cheek, narrowly missing the eye but ending just above the jawline. The scar is a constant reminder of the moment his spark ignited when the spear for his cousin struck him instead. As his Nova powers flared uncontrollably for the first time, the spear warped and twisted, leaving a ragged wound instead of a clean cut.

His garb is a tapestry of dark elegance, stitched together from the threads of two incongruous worlds. The base of his ensemble is a form-fitting bodysuit, as dark as a moonless night, which clings to his muscular frame. Padded armor accents vital areas of his body, each piece etched with Tarkir's savage yet intricate designs, a poignant nod to the battle-hardened land he hails from.

As he moves, a haunting cloak trails behind him. Its fabric, imbued with Innistrad's gothic grace, seems to suck in the surrounding light, echoing the enigmatic pull of his gravity-warping powers. The cloak dances to an unseen wind, at times becoming so translucent that the very cosmic energies he manipulates seem to glow from within.

A hood shades his visage, casting it in layers of mystery. Beneath its shadow, his eyes flicker like celestial bodies—inscrutable windows into a soul entangled in the never-ending struggle between boundless power and the quest for control.

He wears boots and gloves that appear as if they've seen countless battles. Crafted in the style of Tarkir's formidable warriors but etched with Innistrad's arcane runes, they radiate a subtle, foreboding aura of magic. Strapped around his waist, a utility belt hosts an arsenal of duality: vials of holy water rest beside ancient talismans, silvered blades sheathed next to mystical sigils—each a memento of the worlds that have shaped him.

Centerstage on his chest is his emblem, a stylized eclipse wrought from symbols that pay homage to both Tarkir and Innistrad. It pulsates in a slow rhythm, almost as if it resonates with the celestial bodies it embodies, or perhaps with the untamed energy that courses through him.

TRAITS:

Determined: Despite all the setbacks and challenges, Sorin focuses on bettering himself and mastering his powers. He's committed to making a positive difference, no matter the cost.
Loyal: Sorin forms deep bonds with those he trusts, and he's willing to go to great lengths to support and protect them, even if it puts him in dangerous situations.
Unpredictable: Due to his lack of full control over his powers and his impulsive nature, Sorin can be unpredictable, which makes some people uneasy around him.
Aloof: The weight of his powers and past can make Sorin come off as aloof or disconnected, as he sometimes withdraws into himself, especially when reminded of his past failures.

FLAWS:

Impulsive: Sorin often acts on his gut feelings without considering the consequences, especially when those he cares about are in danger. This impulsiveness often leads to unintended results and collateral damage.
Lack of Control: Despite his best efforts, Sorin still struggles with control over his vast powers, making him unpredictable and potentially dangerous to others.
Self-Doubt: The traumatic events that ignited his spark and the accidental harm he's caused have led to a strong sense of self-doubt, making him second-guess his decisions and actions.
Guilt-Prone: Sorin carries a heavy burden of guilt for the lives he has affected negatively, which can paralyze him in critical moments where decisive action is needed.

FEARS:

Fear of Causing Harm: Sorin is terrified that he will lose control of his powers and hurt or kill innocent people, reinforcing his pre-existing guilt and self-doubt.
Fear of Isolation: Given the destructive potential of his abilities, Sorin fears that he will become increasingly isolated as people learn about what he can and has done in the past.
Fear of Never Returning Home: Despite the allure of the Multiverse, Sorin longs to return to Tarkir but fears he might never gain enough control over his planeswalking ability to make it back safely.
Fear of Manipulation: Sorin is aware that his powers make him a valuable asset or pawn in the schemes of more cunning and experienced beings, mortal and planeswalker alike.
Fear of Himself: On a deeper level, Sorin fears what he could become if he fully embraces his powers without mastering control over them. The idea that he could become a force of unbridled destruction haunts him.

BACKGROUND:

Tarkir
Before his planeswalker spark ignited, Sorin Khat was a promising young warrior among the Abzan Houses of Tarkir. Life in the Abzan Houses centered on family, honor, and martial prowess. Sorin was close to his kin and was particularly influenced by an older cousin who was a renowned warrior. As a member of a tight-knit clan, Sorin was expected to contribute to the welfare and defense of his family. Even as a young warrior of thirteen, Sorin had shown aptitude in combat and was expected to follow in the footsteps of his cousin. But something inside him always felt out of place, as though he was meant for something different, something bigger. This left him with an insatiable curiosity for knowledge and magic, but due to the expectations of his clan, he focused mostly on martial training.

Before his spark ignited, Sorin had already begun to experience moments where his latent abilities would break through, though he didn't fully understand what they were at the time. During a training session with fellow warriors, Sorin became frustrated and inadvertently unleashed a gravity pulse, throwing everyone and everything into disarray. Weapons flew out of hands, people were hurled against walls, and for a moment, Sorin was at the epicenter of chaos. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured, but the event left a lasting impression on Sorin and those around him. It was the first time people began to view him with a mix of awe and fear.

The incident that led to the ignition of Sorin's planeswalker spark was a horrifying culmination of his lack of control over his nascent Nova abilities. During a skirmish with a rival clan, Sorin locked eyes with his cousin just as an enemy brandished a spear, targeting his cousin's heart. In that moment, a desperate wish to protect his cousin surged through him, awakening his Nova powers for the first time.

Time distorted around him as if bending to his will. Sorin found himself teleporting in the spear's path, materializing before his cousin as the weapon flew through the air. But his uncontrolled powers had disastrous consequences. The gravitational forces he unknowingly unleashed caused the spear to twist erratically in mid-flight.

The weapon tore through Sorin's face from his left temple to his jawline, leaving a grievous wound that would later scar. In that moment of unbearable pain and realization, his power burst forth uncontrollably, altering the gravity within the room so drastically that the very structure they were in imploded, killing everyone present—including the cousin he had tried to save.

Overwhelmed by emotional turmoil, physical pain, and the devastating outcome of his actions, Sorin's planeswalker spark ignited. He found himself torn from the tragic scene and hurled into the strange, gothic world of Innistrad, forever marked by the events that led him there.

Insert prologue here.

Innistrad
In Innistrad, Sorin initially thought he was in the afterlife and that his unstable powers were some form of divine punishment or test. During one particularly intense moment when he was cornered by a group of werewolves, his attempt to use his powers defensively went awry. He wanted to increase his gravity to root himself in place, making it hard for the werewolves to move him. Instead, he unintentionally created a gravity well, drawing in not just the werewolves but also uprooting trees and causing a small landslide. The werewolves were crushed, but so was a nearby human settlement that got caught in the unforeseen destruction.

In Innistrad, where superstitions run deep, and the line between myth and reality is often blurred, Sorin's gravity manipulation abilities made quite an impression. Once, he used his powers to fend off some monstrous creature attacking a village. During the climactic moment, his gravitational abilities become so intense that they bend the light around him, causing a momentary sky-darkening akin to an eclipse. The villagers, already steeped in folklore and attuned to omens, saw this as a powerful sign. In Innistrad, where the moon has significant mystical and cultural relevance, this celestial event was the subject of fascination and interpretation.

Word spread from the village to neighboring towns, merchants, bards, and other wanderers. "Have you heard of Eclipse?" they would say, recounting how Sorin darkened the sky to save a village or defeat a powerful monster. The name would take root because it so succinctly captures the essence of Sorin's powers and the awe and fear they inspire. As the name circulated, Sorin himself overheard it and began using it to describe him, finding it apt and deciding to adopt "Eclipse" as the moniker that reflects his duality—both a wielder of immense power and a figure of potential destruction or salvation.

Even after coming to grips with being a planeswalker, Sorin struggled to control his new capabilities. On more than one occasion, he inadvertently planeswalked when trying to use his powers. Once, while trying to lift a fallen tree off a trapped villager using his gravity manipulation, he ended up planeswalking himself and the tree to Ravnica. The tree appeared high in the sky and crashed into a busy marketplace, causing chaos and damage.

Sorin is trying to come to grips with his immense power, but more so, his lack of control, which makes him a danger to himself and others. Each incident is a heavy burden on his conscience, fueling both his determination to improve and his fear of what he's capable of. The events leading up to his spark's ignition and his experiences across various planes serve as harsh lessons. Sorin remains committed to mastering his abilities not just for his own sake but in the hope that he can prevent causing any more destruction and loss of life.

OUTFIT:

Given that Sorin hails from Tarkir but has spent a significant time in Innistrad, his outfit as Eclipse blends elements from both planes to reflect his diverse experiences and origins. From Innistrad he has taken gothic, Victorian inspirations, while Tarkir has a more Eastern and war-torn aesthetic, influenced by Mongolian and various Asian cultures.

Base Garments: A form-fitting, dark-colored bodysuit could serve as the base, offering flexibility and agility. The suit might incorporate some padded armor at vital spots, borrowing from Tarkir's warlike fashion.
Cape/Cloak: To capture the gothic flair of Innistrad, he wears a flowing cloak that mimics the shadowy nature of his powers.
Hood: Sorin opts for a hood that casts his face in shadow, enhancing his enigmatic appearance.
Boots and Gloves: Rugged, combat-ready boots and gloves borrowed from Tarkir's militaristic style but adorned with Innistrad's intricate runes.
Accessories: A belt with pouches for any components or items he may need. Some are filled with vials of holy water and silver weapons customary in Innistrad for battling the dark creatures of the night.
Symbol: A chest insignia that combines elements from both planes—a stylized version of an eclipse.
Colors: Dark colors would dominate to keep with the "Eclipse" theme—blacks, deep purples, and dark blues.
Visual Effects: His gravitational powers often manifest as visual distortions around him, like a heat mirage or small objects gravitating toward him when he flexes his powers, creating a shroud of floating debris when he's particularly charged up.
