Backstory:

Her name wasn’t always Soosan. In fact, at first she despised the moniker given to her by the toddler human she rescued from the collapsed house of yet another raided and burned village. She had been crisscrossing the Mwangi expanse for uncounted years, stopping here and there to bolster the defenses of remote vulnerable settlements. Her military training (and nightmares) should be worth something, after all. But that child… He clung to her, and eventually his cries for “Mama” could only be soothed by her. His name was Ankh, and he grew into a boy who loved her and filled her heart with joy and wonder. It has been decades since he died of old age; human lives are so fleeting. His descendants continue her mission to help the helpless defend themselves from the dangers that surround them. For her part, she is ready to take her expertise to other parts of the world. Now she proudly bears the nickname given to her by a little boy who taught her how to love again, and who couldn’t pronounce “Sulasian”.
