=4 hits "Hey," Slide says, "Keep your hands on your purses, ladies. There's some punk goin' around picking pockets at the bar."
"Maybe the trick is to lay some groundwork beforehand," Slide says. "We could do all the snatching the day before, then just make it look good during the race."
Slide felt he should have beaten the rest of those losers to the bar, but if he had to be on someone's tail for the whole drive, this D-Frag girl was definitely his first choice. He orders a drink, then slips into a seat by the others.
Slide pops the chip into Margaret, revs the engine, and takes off with an extra little boost of power that you only get from years of knowing your bike.
Slide sidles up to Dierdre as they walk out of the meeting room. He'd caught that glance she'd thrown his way. Someone wanted to bring a little slip to his Slide. "Yo baby," he says. "You D-Frag, yeah? It looks like we on a team now. What you say we do a little team-buildin' exercises at your place?"
Slide tries not to drool at the thought of 2000 nuyen up-front. That would keep the landlord off his back and food on the table for at least another month or two. But he knew about how the Yakuza tolerated failure, and he preferred to keep his pinkie fingers. "Why is this bigwig so eager to sponsor a UCB team?" he asks. "And why us in particular?"
Slide nods a cursory greeting to everyone else, then slips into a chair near the corner of the room, leaning back and watching the others get settled.
Slide sidles up to the bar at Twisted Nights, and he can feel his eye start to twitch at the flashing lights around him. He sniffs and wipes his nose as he pulls on the bartender's cuff. "Yo, ain't this supposed to be 'Twisted Nights?' I was looking for somethin' a little more twisted. Show me the most twisted room you got, chill?"
Slide flows out of bed after reading the message, and starts getting dressed. Truth be told, he's not that attached to this cop (it's more of an occassional business relationship than "friendship," but he read nuyen signs between the lines, and the landlord's been barking down his neck for the rent lately. He loads up his Ares Predator, and stuffs one pocket with a couple of green rubber snakes, just in case. Signature: I forgot to mention it before, but I've decided the "Signature" quality refers to leaving green rubber snakes behind at the scene of his jobs.
OK, here's the backstory, description, and contacts to go with my stats posted earlier. Backstory:
Slide is the son of Korean immigrants to Tokyo, but was orphaned at a young age. He started out living on the streets, surviving by picking pockets and basic smash-and-grab jobs. After a couple of years he fell in with a crew of fellow thieves, and graduated to a slightly higher caliber of crimes and low-level Shadowruns. He had a knack for driving, and became the crew's wheelman until combat biking started calling his name. He parted ways with his crew amiably, and still keeps in touch with the leader, Okuba (Connection 3/Loyalty 4). He also knows a dirty Knight Errant* cop that fed them information on potential jobs in the past (Connection 2/Loyalty 1). *I don't know if Knight Errant operates in Tokyo, but if not, it will just be the local equivalent.
Description: Slide is a dark-haired, Korean human male. Small and wiry, he can contort his body into impressive positions, and has a reputation for nimble fingers and quick reflexes. His racing suit is covered with designs made from coiling green snakes, which also decorate the sides of his Suzuki Mirage, which he named "Romi"
OK, here are my (I think) fully fleshed-out stats. I'll still take suggestions if you have them. Backstory to come, but the gist of it is that he used to be part of a thieving crew/low-level runner as the wheelman. Also, I should have 9 points left for contacts, once I work out the backstory.
