Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

Why don't we go ahead and put this game out of it's misery. Megan hasn't posted in three weeks, and we keep having to remind her it's here. She's running a bunch of games, and though this was I believe her first, it seems to have not captured her attention.

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

Sir Winston would certainly attend fully armored and weaponed.

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

Which Monday?

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

"You speak wisely Professor". "I have learned to trust your judgement". "Though I chafe for action, and rue the thought that another innocent life may be taken this evening, your advise is sound". "Tomorrow then".

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 Sense Motive

"I fight with the might of Shelyn guiding my blows". "This battle is hers as much as mine"!

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

"I am of course with the Professor". "We've dilly-dallied enough with these rumored beast".

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

"We seem to not be making much progress, but you are free to join us in standing around". "I am Sir Winston".

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

Megan. I posted a recruitment thread, but can't remember the creation guidelines. Maybe you could chime in on the thread, and give a bit of guidance. Thanks for your continued patience with this game

Prof. Faradir Rokannon wrote:

Professor Rokannon thinks deeply on the information so far aquired, softly blowing smoke rings.

"Hm; Delvehaven. Some of the first reports mention a 'shadowy calamity at Delvehaven'. Perhaps an investigation during daylight hours may reveal more."

He looks at the rest of you.

"You have heard the story of Delvehaven, have you not?
It was the local chapter house of the Society of Pathfinders.
It was forcibly closed by the order of the city’s diabolical rulers, and they were exiled, forcing them to leave behind untold knowledge and the treasures of countless expeditions."

His eyes gleam as he tells the story, smoking more rapidly.

"Today, Delvehaven lies under the pale of fearful rumors and dark magic, and bureaucratic red tape has prevented trespass on the lodge’s well-protected grounds. Yes; that would be a perfect base for an unseen enemy..."

"Hmmm". "I guess you're right Professor". "As usual". "I don't guess another day will make that much difference". "Since our new companions seem to have no stomach for the chase though, perhaps we should see if there are some other children of Westcrown who would like to join us"?

Since we seem to be down to two (Maybe three) players should we recruit some new blood (preferred :-) or let this game go?

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

"I know nothing, except that they are causing terror to the public, and the threat must be removed". "Nothing else is required to be known".

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

Hey guys. I’ll be able to post (Hopefully) this week, but on a business trip to PR. Don’t let me hold up the game however just GM NPC the characters if you need to move forward before I can post.

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

Bored to action, Sir Winston rises to his feet, and makes a pronouncement.
"I'm tired of all this inaction". "I'm going out into the streets and kill a shadow creature".

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

Seeing that there is to be no further action, Sir Winston, lets his hand leave his weapon, and relaxes a bit, waiting in the corner for more conversation about singing, and dancing, and all that other silly stuff.

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

Feeling a bit out of place in this whole 'artzy, fartzy' conversations Sir Winston siezes the opportunity to leave.

"Stay here"! "I'll go see what this is all about", Sir Winston exclaims rising from his chair too quickly, and knocking it over in the process".

He then takes a moment to listen at the door before opening it.

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 Perception

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

Sir Winston sits as quietly as possible, and takes in the charade. He can't just out and out tell a lie as easily as the others, so he keep silent in hopes that will be good enough.

When you start a thread of distrust, and dishonesty, it builds on itself. Just look what a "simple" horse theft has gotten us into. And with that thought, he slightly rolls his eyes, and returns his face to his mug.

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

Sir Winston is certainly up for a glass of fine wine...if his charge is ready to either accompany them, or has been paid and is now healthy, happy, and wise.

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

OK. Let's get this straightened out. Sister Milena and Sir Winston are outside the theatre around back just as the show ends talking to the young girl. Everybody else is inside talking to the rest of the show people. Is this correct or am I confused.

"Here let me tend your wounds", Sir Winston tells the young woman.

Milena curses herself for her lack of discipline, but this is one of those situation where she needs to take a risk. She walks up to the young girl: "I'm so sorry to bother you, but weren't you the princess in tonight's performance? I thought you were amazing!" While she's talking, she studies the actress.

Sense Motive: 1d20+8

I'm a bit confused. Was Milena walking around outside during the act with Sir Winston, or has time passed after the play, and he encountered nothing in the waning acts?

Megan Robertson wrote:

Sir Winston Oh good, thought you might have been ill or something... welcome back.

As you mooch around outside, you get tempted by someone selling what he calls 'bubbly pies' - small fruit pies straight from the oven, with the juices bubbling out. And only 3 coppers apiece!

Then you see the young lady who was playing the Princess's handmaiden leaving the stage door. Her dress is torn and she is limping, and it looks like she's been crying.

Sir Winston, his weakness exposed buys three of the bubbly pies, and is busy stuffing his face, when he notices the girl exiting the building.

"Here, Here, what is wrong",He says rushing towards the girl. "Here have a bubbly pie". "They make everything better". "Now why don't you tell me what happened". "Everything is OK now". "I"ll protect you".

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24 Diplomacy

"Come and set down on this step, and let me see to your wound".

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

Sorry about lack of posting. I lost the dot on the thread somehow. I think I can Retro a bit without upsetting anything

After the commotion settles down, Sir Winston sees this as an opportunity to slip outside and wait the end of the show. It's subject matter, and poor execution leaving him bored and restless. He spends the rest of the show walking about the exterior of the building, hoping to mingle with the rest of the crew when they depart.

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13 perception

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

If the rest of the party chases Gordio out Sir Winston will follow...to keep them out of more trouble. If not he will stick around to see what happens next.

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

Sir Winston does his best to calm the crowd, making sure to impose his body between the panicking horse and any innocents or elderly in it's path.

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25 Diplomacy to calm crowd

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 Reflex save? To interpose himself.

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

Sir Winston keeps his head down for the most part, and tries to be non-obtrusive. he does make small talk, and listen for any other rumors or gossip. With no shield, and only his dagger for defense, he will be glad when this sordid waste of time event has reached it's conclusion, and the group can move on to killing the shadow beast.

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24 Diplomacy (Gather information)

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

Sir Winston will spend the afternoon polishing his armor to a magnificent gleam. It happens to be the best dress outfit he has.

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

"Well I feel useless just sitting around, but I can see you're point". "Tomorrow it is". Sir Winston then spends the rest of the evening praying, and cleaning his weapons and armor".

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

"Maybe we should hurry on and ask our questions before darkness falls". "Since almost everyone turns in by dark, we should find some willing to talk".

Then turning to the spellcasters "Will you guys be ready to go out anytime tonight, or should we wait till tomorrow evening"?

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

"Perhaps those of us that don't need to remember spells could gather some information, then come back here spend the day recovering, and go out tomorrow night"?

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

"Yes, let us lay low, and try to kill this night beast". Perhaps some of us should go out, and try to gather some information about it's habits, and normal stalking grounds". "I will be glad to do so, but may need some help disguising myself before going". "After we kill this beast then we could spread the fact that we were responsible, giving us good feelings among the populace".

Wanted to say Street Cred here, but didn't sound right coming from a Medieval Paladin...Except maybe in a Shrek movie.

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

"I agree". "It might be best not to antagonize any officials for a while". "Everyone wants these things gone, and it might help our reputation a bit", Sir Winston says looking up with sudden interest.

Gorvio Marnok wrote:

"Whoa, Sir Winston, hold your horses. Let's find out what Arael knows before we get to head long into planning how to take them down. Please continue Arael." Gorvio looks at Ranin and shares a look of understanding, before returning his gaze to Milena.

Knowledge (local) on the Bastards of Eberus 1d20+8

"OK". "I'll 'hold my horses' for now, but we must move forward". "And, by the way", he appraises Gorvio with an arched eyebrow, "when I do hold my horses...at least they will be my horses". He then scurries off to the corner and sits down with a pouting huff.

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

"Enough idle chatter". "Now that your bonds are removed, let's get to the business of deciding what we need to do about these ruffians". "What details can you give us"? "Is there an obvious way to infiltrate their den of sin"? "How many are they, and what are their strengths and weaknesses"? "Any obvious resources we should be aware of"? "Can you sketch out a map so that we can properly plan? "When should we plan our attack? , as through with his praying and healing, Sir Winston becomes a whirlwind of activity.

To whomever need is, and stopping if he's through before he runs out of channels (Sorry been so long since the battle I've forgotten who's hurt, and don't have time at the moment to go back and look :-)

Sir Winston steps to the door, "Be ready" he whispers to his comrades. Then he steps to the door, and opens is slightly his foot keeping it from opening further. He takes a moment to detect evil on whoever is standing outside, as well as looking around for any trap.

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4Perception

Assuming nothing jumps out at him, he opens the door a little further. "For the honor of Shelyn, come in and be quite, before you rouse half or Westcrown". "What was your mothers name who so willingly sent you here"?

After the reply, Sir Winston will look to Arael for acknowledgement.

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

"Violent...Raising Hell...Who are these Miscreants". "Sir Winston will deal with them.". "The people should not suffer, because the Order moves like a grandmother with gout".

Megan...Check the ooc thread for a possible addition to our fine group of soldiers.

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

Sir Winston will enter the safe house, waiting for the others to follow. As his style he will first admonish the group for taking the horses, stating that if we become thieves we are no better than those we strive to dispose...yadda...yadda...yadda.

Then in the spirit of leadership, he congratulates each of them both individually and as a group for their teamwork and positive actions, and asks if any need healing.

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

Look that way, though Sir Winston is always ready.

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

Sir Winston keeps walking his gaze straight ahead, trying to look like he has nothing to do with the ruffians on the stolen horses.

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

Hey guys. We've got pretty good posting frequency with this group. Do you guys think I should try to recruit a rogue or divine caster to continue forward, or keep going like we are?

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

Sir Winston...angry at his band of ruffians for the theft. Steadfastly refuses to ride a stolen mount...so begins his long walk back towards Westcrown, the same way he came...muttering under his breath at his companions lack of scruples.

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

Sir Winston sept in front of the performer's horse.

"Pardon me, but we are not here to steal the belongings of the Hellknights, we are here to release an innocent man, and we have done so". The Hellknights are not our enemy they are only doing their jobs".

"Releasing and sending off the horses with their belongings on board is one thing". "Taking possession of what is not ours is quite another". "The charter of the CofW is to improve things in Westcrown, and taking that which does not belong to us is only shifting the abuse of power from one group to another".

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2
Megan Robertson wrote:

The key does not fit the manacles.

All snoozing Hellknights plus the driver, and those who remain awake, are disarmed and loaded inside the carriage. It's quite a tight fit!

Are you taking ALL the horses (the ones pulling the carriage as well as four mounts)?

Yes. But we are not taking them, we are returning them some where they can find their way home. Just don't want the captives to get out and chase us down on horseback

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

"Know that your honor is noted by the Children of Westcrown". "Now quickly all of you in the wagon". "Guys disarm the sleeping, and carefully place them inside first, then send off their horses".

Then turning to the speaker, "We shall get word back to your superiors where to find you, so you will not be kept here long".

Sir Winston also uses his "Lay on hands" ability to stabilize any injured knights, or players

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

"Your friends have fallen, no need for you to join them", Sir Winston screams as he closes the distance. "This is you last warning to cease and desist, or you shall pay dearly". "Drop your weapon"!

If the Knight surrenders. Sir Winston will shout at Ranindolf to throw down the key, and after releasing the captive...disarm/disable all the remaining knights, and lock them in the wagon...running off the horses.

If he must attack before accomplishing the above.

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15 Glaive Attack
1d10 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 Glaive Damage

After the disarming Sir Winston would try to save any lives he could before placing all the knights in the wagon and locking it up.

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

Seeing that combat is unreasonable, Sir Winston rushes to join the fray.

Probably too far away to get to anyone to attack this round, so will use the round to move closer...saying a quick prayer as he runs.

"Stand down". "You need not sacrifice your lives for this"!

Is the wagon tended at this moment by anyone awake?

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 Initiative

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

Sir Winston steps onto the edge of the roadway, his Glaive at his side, and holds up one hand.

"Halt, honorable knights". "You hold within the wagon one who has been falsely accused". "He must be released to my custody, or there will be trouble". "I give you this opportunity to hand him over and go peacefully on your way".

Fredrich is sure to keep himself only a quick step from the cover he stepped out from behind so that he can get back if they turn dis-honorable and fire on him with missile weapons.

Diplomacy (1d20+8=24)

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

Sir Winston will work his normal shift at the soup kitchen, then go back to his room and sleep early. He will then rise two hours before sunrise to pray and prepare.

"I think the party should leave before sunrise". "Few will be around to watch us leave, and we can arrive at the site a couple of hours before the escort". "There is a small produce check station just north of the City gates". "What say we meet there an hour before sunrise"?

When we arrive at the site, Sir Winston will take a post behind the large rock towards the North end of the site. When the Escort reaches a place about 60' from his place of concealment, he will step out to confront the group.

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

"Both sites have their advantages". "I hope not to skulk off into the forest if things go bad, and can't imagine that scenario, however the bridge does keep them from going around us".

"You know my feelings". "I am in favor of a frontal assault so that they may know that they will be held accountable, however I understand that doing so at this time would only result in the defeat or our cause". "Know that Sir Winston will stand in earnest for any plan developed...just please keep in mind that I refuse to strike from ambush".

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

"If I could volunteer to lead the ambush distraction, It would be my honor to do so". "I cringe at the idea of attacking from ambush myself, and would be much more comfortable with a direct confrontation".

don't mean to be a pain...but he is a Paladin.

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

"Do we know how much time we have to scout out the ambush area"? "Do we know when they plan on moving him"?

"The best place to limit superior force is either at a bottleneck, or from ambush". "While I am no fan of attacking from ambush, I am also no fan of false imprisonment".

"I will not be the one to hide behind a tree to attack, but I could serve as a distraction while others did so". "I could confront them and draw their attention while you got in position".

"I would say one of the forest patches if we have time to scout, and the bridge if not".

Male Human Paladin / Shelyn - 2

Sir Winston takes advantage of a lull in the conversation to clear his throat and speak loudly.

"Ahem"! "Friends and colleagues". "We are all here today for various reasons, but what each of our personal agendas boils down to is this".

"None of us are happy with the current state of affairs here in Westcrown, and we have decided to do something about it". "We must also realize that we are facing long odds". "The current power structure is firmly ingrained, and though we might not like to admit it well organized and effective".

"However the current powers lack one thing, that is base to all civilized races". "That one thing we are all striving for". "And that is the freedom to do what we wish with our lives".

"And though our numbers might currently be few, almost all sentient beings wish for freedom". "We must put aside our personal ambitions, and unify on a common front to take steps to overthrow the current yoke of our existing government". "We can't at this time take them on head-to-head, but we can begin to do small things that make a statement". "These acts will gain attention, and the momentum of freedom will take over and our ability to affect life will escalate".

"So I ask you all". "What can we do to begin this process?...What is our next step?

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17 diplomacy.

"So I beg you all...Let us band together, and determine things we can do right now to begin the evolution of change"?
