Sir Loric is a strikingly handsome figure, looking every bit the heroic knight. Clad in shining armor bearing the symbol of Iomedae, this loud-spoken bastion of justice intends to root out all of the evil involved in this arena.

Background:

Even at a young age, Loric the Righteous was clearly destined for greatness in the face of adversity. When his parents perished in a tragic fire at his childhood home, the eight year old boy saved his sister's life at great peril to himself.

Misfortune seemed to follow our hero throughout his life. At the age of twelve, he rescued the passengers of a horse-drawn carriage that he was riding after the driver dropped dead of natural causes.

By the time he was a teenager, he had uncovered the secrets of the local priest of Shelyn. When Loric discovered proof of the priest's vicious abuse of the children in town and confronted him, the offender responded with violence, and Loric slew the vile monstrosity in self-defense, much to the relief of the parents in town who had trusted their priest whole-heartedly.

Loric does not waver in his faith. He will not rest until the wicked are given the justice they so richly deserve.

Aura of Good: The power of Loric's aura of good is equal to his paladin level (2).

Detect Undead: At will, Loric can use detect undead, as the spell. He can, as a move action, concentrate on a single individual within 60 ft and determine if it is undead, learning the strength of its aura as if having studied it for 3 rounds. While focusing on one individual, Loric does not detect undead in any other individual within range.

Smite Evil (1/day): Loric can call out to the powers of good to aid him in his struggle against evil. As a swift action, he can choose one target within sight to smite. If this target is evil, Loric adds his Charisma bonus (+4) on his attack rolls and adds his paladin level (2) on all damage rolls made against the target of his smite. If the target of smite evil is an outsider with the evil subtype, an evil-aligned dragon, or an undead creature, the bonus to damage on the first successful attack increases to 2 points of damage per level. Regardless of the target, smite evil attacks automatically bypass any DR the creature might possess. Also, while smite evil is in effect, Loric gains a deflection bonus equal to his Charisma modifier (+4) to his AC against attacks made by the target of the smite. If he targets a creature that is not evil, the smite is wasted with no effect.

Divine Grace: Loric gains a bonus equal to his Charisma bonus (if any) on all Saving Throws.

Charitable Hands (5/day):

Loric can heal wounds (his own or those of others) by touch. Each day he can use this ability a number of times equal to 1/2 his paladin level plus his Charisma modifier. With one use of this ability, Loric can heal 1d6 hit points of damage for every two paladin levels he possesses. Using this ability is a standard action, unless Loric targets himself, in which case it is a swift action. Despite the name of this ability, Loric only needs one free hand to use this ability.

Alternatively, Loric can use this healing power to deal damage to undead creatures, dealing 1d6 points of damage for every two levels he possesses. Using lay on hands in this way requires a successful melee touch attack and doesn't provoke an attack of opportunity. Undead do not receive a saving throw against this damage.

Loric heals 50% less when he uses lay on hands on himself, but 50% more than the normal amount when he uses it to heal others. Using lay on hands to harm undead deals the normal amount of damage.

This ability otherwise works like and replaces lay on hands.
