Background:
Sir Dolas dismounted outside The Ogre's Club, an inn outside of town and hitched his horse to the rail. Remembering the letter from Sir Pallas inviting him to town, where the Lord was swearing in new Knights to his service, he grinned anticipating meeting him here.
Despite having crossed lances frequently at the lists, it was good of Sir Pallas to mention the opportunity to get out from under the shadow of his brothers, and their petty oppression of their household.
Pushing in through the doors, he was greeted by the usual assortment of hard bitten foresters and farm hands. They seemed amazed to see him; no doubt Knights were rare around here.
He had a bare moment of warning and just got his shield up in time to block a chair from braining him, but still had force enough to knock him to his knees. There was a roar of excited voices through the common room; "It's him!" "Get him!"
Roaring with fury, he shouted "Get off!" and bashed the man who hit him.
Standing up, he was briefly stunned as he saw a large Wanted poster, clearly showing his face and coat of arms, along with a reward that would feed a peasant's family for a year.
Then three more men tackled him and bore him back through the door in a splintering crash.
Thrown into a panic, he managed to fight his way out of the melee and flee into the fey-haunted forest.
He was safe from the mob now, but at the cost of his horse and lance. Sitting down on a gnarled tree root, he realized he was now lost in the middle of the trackless forest. Worse than all that, he was an outlaw! He still didn't understand what happened; Had the Lord made a mistake? Had Sir Pallas or even his brothers betrayed him somehow?
He wanders now, making his way as a soldier of fortune, his visor down and his shield covered. Perhaps after he makes his fortune, he can return to set the record straight.
