Female Human (Varisian) Oracle of Life (Seer) 1
Being Varisian would Simza know if Pietra is her first or last name? Simza makes sure to collect some parchment and writing implements before she heads down to the cell. She takes in Madame Pietra's current state with a frown, before approaching her calmly. She sits on the bed beside her, offering a calming smile which she hopes will get through despite her veils. "Madame Pietra, my name is Simza Caumlo, of Magnimar Special Investigations. Please relax, we just want to find out what you know of the current situation regarding Veristan Mikobar." she begins, ignoring Koraq trying to pull the answers from her head apparently by pure force of will. "If your information assists us in capturing him then it will reflect well on you when it comes time for your own trial."

"Good." she states firmly. She had hoped to have a chance to discuss things peacefully with the woman, but from the way Koraq had been talking she didn't think she'd have gotten that chance. That such wasn't Koraq's first approach was a relief--although the way he had described that an approach was downright offensive--hopefully they could get what they needed without resorting to that; there was a difference between what he had done the last night to defend them all and torturing an injured woman, even if she did seem unpleasant.

I think I'm kind of getting frustrated with Koraq a bit yeah, more because while for her she's known him for about 4 or 5 days, actually playing it out has been what... coming up on 9 months :p so it feels like there should be some more character development there between the two than there has been. I think there could be an interesting relationship there, I'm just getting impatient more than anything. Of course it doesn't help that I've worked waaaaaaay too much the last week.

I thought I'd drop this in before I sign off to get ready for work. What would everybody's thoughts be on me 'retiring' Simza and bringing in a different character (in game she'd ask for a transfer at the end of the current case)? I've been considering it for a little while, her temperament is perhaps not the best suited to this group but I can't quite decide if that's a good opportunity for some roleplaying, or if someone else would work out better. So I thought I'd see what you guys think (Nazard included), is she too much of a stick in the mud, or is she the voice of reason? Thoughts, opinions, all appreciated (as long as it's constructive anyway :p)

Simza outright glares at Koraq as he speaks up again, though she's more than a little shook up by Mrs. Birgglespan's comment. "I will come in to check her wounds and bandages, but I am not going to stay around if you intend to mistreat her." she says stiffly.

"As much as it seems Lord Millis could afford to be taken down a few notches, we cannot allow Mikobar to retrieve the final fragment. By all accounts the completed Enjoiner could cause some serious damage to the city." Simza observes as she finishes her meal. When Koraq smirks like that he earns another disapproving look, though she does glance at Rasil to see if he has any reply. "I do not know either, but I doubt that the Captain would permit additional harm to come to her."

Simza frowns disapprovingly at Koraq as he comes down to breakfast wearing almost nothing, but given the mood she doesn't spoil things by harassing him about it. She sighs slightly as Rasil reminds her of Lord Millis. "Yes. You'd think two collapsed buildings, an attempt on a third, and a murder would be enough for anybody." she observes, feeling some of the previous day's weariness settle on her again. "Yes, it was quite brave of him." she agrees with Mrs Brigglespan. "and thank you for breakfast. I think it is just what we all needed after the last few days."

Heal check for Madame Pietra: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Simza binds Madame Pietra's wounds after she is locked up, and then accompanies Rasil to the temple, waiting outside while she is healed, watching the comings and goings in the temple with some interest. She'd not been to a structure of the city god before, not being a diety that her people paid much attention to. She falls wearily into bed, and wakes later than she normally would the next morning, worn out by the previous night's events. The scent from the dining room draws her below like the others, and she settles down with a smile at Rasil's enthusiasm, before loading her plate up and digging in, though she paces herself so as not to overindulge. "So... we need to question Madame Pietra and her men. We are still trusting the Captain to talk to Mr Millis... do we have anything else we need to do after last night?" she asks once everyone has settled in and sated at least their initial appetite.

Simza smiles in relief when the captain praises their work, relieved to have performed well in the first major incident with her fellows. She looks over them now with a sense of accomplishment. "I think locking her up and interrogating her in the morning would be best. I should bind her wounds once we get back to headquarters however." Alright, I think I'm ready to skip to the morning.

"No sir... We encountered the woman who was leading them--Madame Pietre I believe, a local fortune teller--when we were examining the collapses, she had been involved in a dispute over what we assumed at first to be the target of Mikobar's attacks, a Chelaxian text on devil summoning." Simza explains "We spoke briefly with her near the end of the conflict, she claimed to know where Mikobar was headed next--from the context the noble we informed you of yesterday--and wished to intercept him, but we don't know anything else about the nature of the relationship or her motives. It would seem she may be in competition with him to collect the Enjoiner, but I do not know the circumstances of what provoked her to attack. I heard Issceran identify us as members of the watch as we were exiting the basement, but that is all." she looks over to the elf and gnome.
Female Human (Varisian) Oracle of Life (Seer) 1
Am I mistaken or didn't we file a report a couple hours before coming here? I seem to remember doing that but it was a looooong time ago :p I believe we informed the captain where we thought the fragments were, and asked him to talk to the snooty noble guy for us. "By the time we reached the basement where the Enjoiner fragment had been kept it seems that Mikobar had already pierced Rimblesnuffin's vault and retrieved the fragment, or else he used some other manner of magic to bypass as. We were delayed in the basement by a number of earth elementals that were seeking to destabilize the cliffside, and some form of magic sealing the trapdoor behind us." Simza picks up where Rasil left off. "When we defeated the elementals and escaped the basement, we found a number of hostile varisians and were forced to subdue them, despite identifying ourselves as members of the watch." the girl is clearly rather nervous as she makes the report, wondering what the captain would think of how they'd handled their first major incident.

Simza purses her lips at Koraq's use of the derogatory term, but otherwise doesn't comment. "I think we're going to need some help getting everyone back to the watch house... Do we even have any cells there? I don't remember seeing any..." she looks over at the one still conscious Varisian, and the unconscious ones as well.
Female Human (Varisian) Oracle of Life (Seer) 1
"We're going to have to find a more powerful healer I'm afraid... We should send word to the Captain about what happened tonight, and see if the watch has anyone who can help him." she said, looking at the blinded gnome. Simza turns to Rimblesnuffin again then. "I'm very sorry that we were unable to stop Mikobar, but thankfully we were able to stop his elementals... We will inform the City Planning Office of the damage done, they should be able to look it over and advise of any repairs that need to be made, I don't think the area should be dangerous though."
Female Human (Varisian) Oracle of Life (Seer) 1
"Yes... well it is unfortunate that things grew so hectic. We will have a number of questions for Madame Pietra when she awakens." Simza comments, looking weary. "Thank you for you help." The veiled girl turns to Rimblesnuffin then. "I'm afraid your safe was pierced." she informs him, before looking over at her dwarven companion. "Barin were you able to tell if anything was taken?"
Female Human (Varisian) Oracle of Life (Seer) 1
Simza feels a little lightheaded as the energy passes from her this time, it seems that sleeping on the roof and been woken in the middle of the night to combat were having their effects... "Oooh. Well, I can do that once more I think, but... let's get everyone gathered up and... I'd say we need to send for some assistance to bring everyone in so we can question them." she'd never had need to call upon so much divine energy before, and certainly not in so short a period.
Female Human (Varisian) Oracle of Life (Seer) 1
With her fellow Varisians incapacitated, Simza will hurry over to where the invisible fortune teller supposed is. She frowns for a moment before shucking off her pack, and rummaging inside, pulling out a bag of something which she upends over the general area, dumping flour all over the invisible woman. Lets see if that works. If it does, and Barin or Koraq is nearby to threaten her, then Simza will channel, excluding the other enemies apart from Madame Pietra. Channel: 1d6 ⇒ 1 Well, that'll stabilize her anyway.

Koraq Silverclaw wrote: 0_o Nice hit although I hope you didn't just kill Madam Pietra... and you sorta messed up your crit; needed an extra 2d10+8 instead of 3d10+4 That would be 24 damage :) Which with at least a 3rd level caster... well she's probably not dead :p

Simza Caumlo wrote: "and I believe you will need to accompany us..." she says, looking to see whether the woman agrees before healing again. She wasn't trying to avoid healing him, but she wasn't going to continue healing them if they were going to 'resist arrest' as it were. Which is exactly what they're doing :p So without that channel there's just the one in C2 and F1 still conscious? Oh and Issceran is down by Rasil.
Female Human (Varisian) Oracle of Life (Seer) 1
Uhh, alright, so she didn't do the second channel then :p
Female Human (Varisian) Oracle of Life (Seer) 1
Simza is just as confused as the others. "You are the ones who attacked us. I know I heard Issceran identify us as member of the watch." she observes, glowering at Madame Pietra for a few moments, before looking down at the man Koraq just maimed, sighing as the heat went out of her. That Rasil recognised her was enough, at least for now. More importantly was saving these peoples lives if they still could be. She grips the holy symbols hanging around her neck, moving to a more central location, and once more channels divine energy through them. Channel Energy: 1d6 ⇒ 2 "Madame, if you could make sure that they do not attack us..." she requests, before starting to repeat the process. "and I believe you will need to accompany us..." she says, looking to see whether the woman agrees before healing again. Diplomacy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
She should have one left after that if we still need more
Female Human (Varisian) Oracle of Life (Seer) 1
Unless he used it already Koraq should have a +1 from Guidance still available to him too. You might want to delay/ready until after Simza's turn, both for a heal and for a flank "You messed with the wrong Varisian buddy!" she yells as his blade skitters over her armor, and she waves the mace threateningly in his direction, pleased that her armor was doing it's job, making all the exhaustion and sweatiness worth it. When an unexpected wave of sleepiness suddenly hits her she sways, disoriented for a few moments, until she manages to shake it off, far too full of adrenaline right now to slumber. She steps forward, next to the man who attacked her and glares at the woman, who she assumes must have been responsible for Koraq's own unconciousness. Seeing Koraq take another wound however, swaying on his feet once again she focuses her attention internally, gripping her holy symbols as a wave of energy flows from her. She smirks as the flow warps neatly around each of the foes, excluding them from her goddesses' bounty. Wow that's a run on sentence. Round 17: 5 foot step to C3, and channel energy, excluding the 4 foes
Channel: 1d6 ⇒ 5 Ef yeah! 5 healing to Koraq, Issceran, herself and uhh... Coppersmith if he needs it :p
