Robin Hood Artos Robs from Oppressors to give to the poor. Unlike Robin Hood, he tries not to make it well known as Those with power usually are able to do something about it, if they know where to strike. Over the years, rumours of his activities have surfaced, and the rumourmongers have dubbed him "The Ghost". When the need came for him to step up to the mark, he took the name "Silver Ghost" in part recognition of this, though he thought it imprudent to take exactly the same name. That and the fact that "Ghost" was taken, lol Secret Benefactor Artos gives a significant portion to Churches and Charities, especially those whose aim is to help the oppressed. He has a network of loyal agents across the city who have been recruited from the victims of the powerful, who have been helped by Artos personally. Despite taking care to remain anonymous, rumour has somehow managed to get out. Flamboyance Artos has a penchant for taunting opponents in combat, and for acting with style and panache. He enjoys the challenge, but is keenly aware of his limits and will happily retreat when he is overpowered. He always wears rich clothing when "on the job", though never anything too overexpensive. He has a noble background. Secret Cave During renovations on the west Wing of the House, Artos came across a secret entrance to a cave below the house, with a secret exit into the bowels of the city. Artos stores his gear here and uses it to pass into the city as the "Ghost", and now the "Silver Ghost". Unknown to him, it was once used by an ancestor for Infernal practices and anyone with the ability to detect Evil will be able to detect the faded presence. Quote:
(1)Artos wants to complete his vow of revenge against those responsible for driving his father to suicide. Of those initially reponsible, all have paid except the mastermind, Alexander Vetch (a scion of the famous Vetch crime family). He sees now that his life has been put on hold until this vow is fulfilled, and wishes to get on with life. (2) Artos harbors a secret desire for a just society in which there is no oppression; however he has come to believe in individuals more than institutions, and would like to set up an organisation of like minded individuals dedicated to overthrowing oppression by any means. In reality this would probably mean establishing a Noble House. (3) Although Artos has not even considered it, marriage is going to be an important part of establishing a Noble House. He just needs to meet the right girl. Quote:
(1)During his research on Alexander Vetch and the Vetch family, Artos has discovered that their bloodline contains Fiendish elements, and over the years a few Tiflings have been born to the family (though this has been hushed up). (2) Unknown to Artos, he is in fact a bastard grandson of a deceased Vetch leader who represented a moderate faction that was poised to steer the Vetch family away from the more evil pursuits and onto a more benign path. If this became common knowledge, he could become a figurehead for those Vetches who are more moderate in inclination. Alexander Vetch stumbled upon this information after the Vetch leader was assassinated 10 years ago; However the Vetch family declared a moratorium on assassinations as it was drawing too much attention to the family and making them look weak; so Alexander opted to bankrupt the then heir (Artos' father) who then committed suicide (much to his delight). Alexandr was not aware that there was an heir. Quote:
(1)[/b]Feckles[/b] Feckles is Artos' loyal halfling manservant. Since his father died when he was 13, and most of the estate was sold of to pay debts, and the rest of the staff all left, Feckles has been the nearest thing to a friend and a father that Artos has had. noone knows if "Feckles" is a diminuitive of "Feckless", or a derivative of the "Freckles" that are evident across his cheeks, except Feckles himself (who isn't saying). Unfailingly cheerful and polite, Feckles runs what is left of the House, cooking, cleaning (at least the wing where the two of them live), Sewing, Shopping and ensuring that Artos is always well presented "like a proper Gennelman." Feckles is well aware of Artos double life. He picks up all sorts of rumours and snippets from his errands about the city, which he filters back to his master. It is a habit that Artos himself has picked up, despite his general unsociable nature, and Artos often frequents bars where he can sit incognito and listen to the rumours flying around the city, sifting them for truth and filing them away for cross-referencing and verifaction. (2) Henry Beaufont Henry is the family lawyer. After his father's death. it was Henry that realised that their misfortune was not an accident. After revealing this to Artos. he listened as the boy (then aged 13) vowed revenge. Henry, a former agent, decided to fan that flame and trained Artos in infiltration techniques. He also arranged for Artos to be trained in weaponplay, though he proved too weak to be a great warrior. However his general deftness meant that he has become adept with a two weapon fighting style, using a rapier and dagger on formal occasions but preferring his magical kukri "on the Job". Henry is the nearest thing to a mentor that Artos has. He runs a spy network dedicated to information broking, though he has increasingly moved into acting as a support network for Artos. (3) Alexander Vetch Alexander is an up-and-coming scion of the Vetch family. Over the years, he has become aware that several of his associates have been bankrupted by a mysterious Thief known simply as "The Ghost" for his ability to seemingly walk through walls. Little is known about this person, and most of it is just rumour, but Alexander has become convinced that there is a real person behind the rumours and has vowed to hunt him down. Quote:
(1) Every year, on 13 Desnus,(The anniversary of his Father's death) Artos makes an offering at the family's mausoleum, discussing the state of affairs of the family and the vow of revenge. All other considerations except the direst of emergencies are ignored. (2) Artos uses a phrase when he escapes from somebody. He gives them a nod and says "Next year in Absalom!" It means nothing, but he has been known to use it occasionally in social settings (and an astute observer might be able to figure out his true identity from it). (3) Artos has a particular hatred of those that use their power to ruin others without good reason, especially if they can't be touched by the Law. He feels that such individuals should be ruined themselves, while he goes out of his way to support those who are victims of this behaviour. |
